Managed to get hold of Painter 8 couple of weeks ago and I've been happily sketching away ever since. Here's a couple of my first images.

The third one was from scanned pencil sketches. I loaded the scans in P8 and used the GEL layer mode to Paint under the pencil lines.

Good stuff
I like the designs for the robot and the kid. About the boy though, his coat looks a bit flat and doesn't really support the head. See if you can do somethin about that. Other than that, keep up the good work.

that robot and bird piece is truly great, like the poster design ass well, though I would like to see a larger image + backgr. ass well. No crits here, hope all the great works dun get lost in the massive posting on this forum last couple of hours. My bed is it still reach the frontpage. GJ!

i really like the robot/chicken piece...im always a sucker for the "innocent robot just being introduced to life" kind of pieces

great work on all of them - im curious - what tools in painter do you use to sketch? to color?
im still feeling my way around the program and trying out all the tools - so far, i dont feel as comfortable as i do in photoshop, but i definitely see the potential of painter when i use it and in your work

Hi Cris,

To be honest I use some of the more basic tool in Painter 8. I have been learning the program over the last few weeks although I am very familiar with Photoshop and Painter 7. Mainly looking for new brushes and tools. I favour the more basic tools like airbrush and the basic markers. To be honest, I still sketch in Pencil and import with a scanner a great deal. I think corel have it right in this version briging it closer to Photoshop in workflow.
