looks good so far, need more straps and buckels in the chest to hold those shoulder pads on. The one on his right shoulder looks a little funny, I thought the top piece of it was alot more solid and hard edged. This has alot of potential to be very realistic if you just sharpen some things up and add in a few more details. loving it...

Very kick ass man... Suggestions, add more contrast to the environment, maybe an env map withreb and blue lights on black. Second, bring out the colors on the suit.>> A real gold shade, the near black leather of the suit, the dark read outlines on the helmet... the current set of color make it look washed and dolly.

*Might wanna work on the eagle some more later to and add the claws :)

Excellent model though :)

Avid 2000AD reader since I could read here ;)

General look: Great!
Size of zip, chain leading to badge and badge: Great!
Helmet form: Bang on!
General detail level: Rocking!

On the downside.

Joe's face is flabbly looking. I'd say harden up the lines a bit. You've got the eternally-irritated look on the lips about right, I'd say

The Eagle is badly formed, though. The stylised feathers are good, but the head and claws need to be accentuated a lot. I'd also be interested to see how he looks with his right arm extended: What does the Eagle do? How do the "feathers" move? You need this, because Joe Dredd is RIGHT HANDED and that LawGiver needs to be in his other hand.....

...or cheat, and swap the Eagle to the left shoulder. We'll all understand. *grins*

Bottom line:

great points everyone made!...

the problem with the shaders is that i started out wanting to make a realistic version of dredd, then part way thru really started to like the comic (i was making him as kind of a joke, it was going to be a b/w render of him in a david lynch type scene - you know a curtain and black and white tiles on the floor) ....and so i started to try and make him look like the comic.... which lead to me deciding that he would look best if he looked like a toy....

anyway, i never really figured out which way to go with him...

right now he looks like a toy, but it wasnt what i set out to do... not really... oh well, i guess i put him aside for a few weeks and then take another look at him...

hey bog, i have a picture of him where he has the gun in his left hand! im not sure who drew it tho.... cant he hold his gun in either hand?

Actually, I was way too vehement, and I'm going nuts over that one, now. I've managed to convince myself that I remember him being right-handed, and his clone-brother Rico being left-handed - but now in all honesty, I can't remember which is which! Argh!

So I'm gonna drop that point, and just walk in circles whining until I can find someone with lots and lots of back-issues...

I wouldn't say he looks like a toy, per se. He's a little too good for that IMO.
