Hey guys, I've been working on this for a few weeks as a school project. It's done for now, and is just over 3000 polys. It's pretty close to how I look, even down to the glowing eyes and all... Yup.

Anyway, comments/crits welcome!

So my guess is that you're a 19-20 year old bum who can't afford socks and whatnot;)

Anyway, the model looks great! The only thing that is missing is texture for the eyes, and maybe a little more detail in the skin would be good.

Good work.

This looks sweet Joe. I'm still going to keep racking your brain about 3d.

I think that the texture is great, and I think we'd all like you to post the model without smooth shading, since the smooth shading blurs your texture.

Anyway, good stuff, maybe I'll have something to post soon.

Hey thanks guys.

Rivendale; pretty close age wise, I'm 21, almost 22. And I haven't had clean socks in awhile now.... just kidding.

The glowing eyes were basically because I was eager to move on to the next modeling project and wanted to get them in there quick and easy. But yeah, you're right. I should give myself some eyeballs.

Majin; I don't think the smooth shading blurs the texture in actuality, I think it just blurs the light dispersion. If you get close up, they hold an equal amount of the texture. I'll post some close ups later to show you what I mean.

Here's my process page, if you guys want to see it.

Thanks again!!!

very nice as always joe....definitely would like to second the idea on seeing some close ups to see the textures better and wireframe...i'm not sure if its just the angle or what, but the arms looks like its deforming weirdly in that pose on the right...also, its hard to see, but it looks like there is a drastic color change between your cheek bone area to your jawline/stubble area (its red at the cheek bone, then pale at the jawline).

oh and i checked out the walk cycle for him on your site. get some sway in those hips :)...normally its compensated with the rigging

awesome

Thanks Tikisan, I appreciate the crit! I agree about the red and the deforming. As for the walk cycle, I'm noticing all sorts of things wrong with it, and Rexroad gave me a solid critique on it as well.

The sad part is: I probably won't have time to go back and fix anything this semester, since I need to keep a momentum going on these projects(this is 1 of 3 for an independent study). Hopefully I can just take what I learn and make the next character better...

Well, here's some closeups, this is where you can REALLY see the gliches.

With the smoothing groups, you can see, that the texture isn't lost at all, although it's much easier to see trouble spots here.

(those pink arrows point to offending triangles. they are so offensive...) (one pink arrow points to a seam smear...)

The belt area, which smears a little since I was too rationing in my polycount here.

And here you can really see the red in the neck. I guess there's just no excuse for that...

And here's just angle-pose I thought was successful.

Thanks guys for all your comments! I really appreciate the help!

There's some good work in there. But there seems to be some inconsistencies in the smoothness of the model. In places it's pretty edgy, like the butt, jaw, belly and just below the pectorals while in other places it seems pretty detailed, like the arms. The edge at the butt will really stick out if he crouches and the triangular belly would look better if flat instead. I think that with 3000 polys you should be able to get away with this fine.
I noticed some weirdness around the nose geometry.
Nice texture work on the pants though!

Hey thanks wiro! Your crit means a lot to me. I've read your tuts on 3dtotal and seen your work all over here and call myself a fan.

Thanks!
