View Full Version : Eliminating Collide Jitter. Anyone?

I'm having a problem with particles that I am streaming onto a flat plane. My goal is for the particles to land, then settle on the surface.

The plane is a collide object, and the particles live forever.

It seems that no matter how I tweak the resiliance/friction, the resting particles have a high frequency jitter that I can't get rid of. I've tried various fields, tweaked every setting and have torn the manual inside out.

Any input would be appreciated. Thank you.

Try adding a drag field, and turning the particle's conserve rate to about .7 (may need to go lower). With the ground's resiliance at 0 and the friction(dynamic and static) at 1, of course

Thanks. Kinda new to Dynamics. Usually a character guy, but learning new stuff is fun. I appreciate the help.

Yeah I think your best bet would be to play with the conserve. I'm not sure if there is a conservePP but I don't see why there wouldn't be. Use that to say something along the lines of if the velocity of the particle is less than some number then the conserve drops to 0 or a low number. Or key the particles as a whole depending on what you're doing. That annoying jitter is just an annoying collisions problem that I don't know any easy way to fix.
