Walt Disney Animation Studios combines the best in artistry and storytelling with cutting-edge technology to bring wonderful new characters and adventures to the big screen for audiences around the world.

Our latest CG feature, "Tangled (http://adisney.go.com/disneypictures/tangled/#/home/)", directed by Nathan Greno and Byron Howard, is in theaters now! Our next Traditional feature, "Winnie the Pooh (http://disney.go.com/pooh/)", is directed by Steve Anderson and Don Hall; it debuts Summer 2011.

The next session will begin in March!

We will have opportunities for Character Technical Directors (https://careers.disneyanimation.com/job_groups/job_description?id=71) to join the Talent Development program at our Burbank, California studios.

The Talent Development Artist Program is available for recent graduates of undergraduate or graduate programs (within three years of graduation date) for a 3 or 6 month paid position at Walt Disney Animation Studios. The Talent Development Artist Program offers a chance to understand the depth of your new skills, refine and strengthen key areas, and apply your talents in our real world environment. Under the guidance of a Disney Mentor you will be immersed in our world of art and technology while being trained on production work-flows and tools.

Character Technical Director:
As a Character TD you’ll work directly with the character animators and modelers to define and create the controls that will allow the animator the creative freedom to pursue the ultimate in digital acting and performance.

Responsibilities:
• Responsible for constructing 3D character rigs and animation interfaces, and establishing muscle and skin behaviors which range from broad squash and stretch to more realistic
• Responsible for character setup, creating skeletons, IK’s and deformers
• Assist the animators on software/UNIX/Maya issues as well as the use of implemented character animation controls and systems

Requirements:
• Bachelors degree in Animation, Art, Computer Graphics, Engineering, related field or equivalent experience
• Familiarity with CG skeletons and all kinds of deformers including soft bodies
• Solid understanding of the principles of animation
• Knowledge of anatomy, kinematics and physical behaviors
• Strong problem solving ability and good artistic eye

Preferred Skills:
• A solid understanding of the Linux environment, Python and/or Mel scripting
• Exposure to modeling
• Understanding of hair/fur/cloth simulation
