hi people,

i have a model which i have been working on that was downloaded. it has a pretty complex mesh and it's very hard to manipulate because it's all triangles. is there an easy way to clean this up?

specifically - if there is a large flat plane made of a million triangles - how do you convert this to rectangles without just starting over?

hope that does not sound too stupid. attached is the mesh.

thanks,

joe

Untriangulate would be my first try ;)

you can use the polygon reduction tool (if you dare) and then clean up what's left using weld, optimize and edge melt. there's also an old plugin called something like to quad, i think by aquarius that might come to your aid here.
