Hey! He took the textures from "Return to Castle Wolfenstein"!
I am doing this, too, they rock!

yup. he did. he's just starting with maya, and this room is from a scene that he is building. it starts off in a hallway, then goes down a spiral staircase, through this room, then into the next room where he has the jack-in-the-box from Learning Maya 4 ready to go.

this looks really strange to me :hmm:
is it poly or nurbs? but i would suggest the same like above. try to use a new shader, or just change the type of the shader.
or is it a problem with the extracted textures maybe ? what kind they are ??
Did you have to get a program to unpack the textures from RTCW? Or did you just find them on the net?

i'm not sure, i'll ask him how he got them. i think they are all jpegs, but I could be wrong. and i watched him try different things for the surface.... poly cube, poly plane, nurbs cube, nurbs plane... they all did the same thing.

then i guess it's a problem of the texture file. try to convert them to sgi or iff. and avoid having alpha channels in the files.
