Ok, you can give him another Award right now ...

OSOM Andy ;)

01-10-2011, 12:00 PM
It is fantastic! very beautiful and original

01-10-2011, 12:23 PM
you know what . i think you deserve award , but she is alittle short dude .

01-10-2011, 12:36 PM
Great as usually.

I just dont like one thing - the red reflections on her hairs - they should be more orange than red and also not so thick. This red spot artacts the whole atention of viewer:)

I love the glow effect, just great!

And I wish it was in bigger resoultion :I

01-10-2011, 12:57 PM
The neon lines are actually an orangey red, like the 'bad guys' in the film.
Its just that where the light is more intense, it is whiter, hence that pale orangey look. The true colour is shown in reflections, hence the floor and her hair having a red reflection.
Im still pretty new to Vray, so i wasnt sure how to make the reflections more accurate.

Smokypro - she's a lover, not a fighter :-)

01-10-2011, 01:19 PM
That is pretty sweet. Good job.

01-10-2011, 01:55 PM
I still can't get over how consistent you are with your work. Love everything about her.

01-10-2011, 02:23 PM
Beautiful! I just love your style! Seeing work like this makes me realize just how far I need to go as an artist.

01-10-2011, 02:30 PM
You're becoming quite the regular up on the front page there, Andy.

01-10-2011, 02:57 PM
Shucks, thanks Leigh! *blushes*

There should be more frontpage art updates. The features are good and all, but for me, CGtalk is all about the artist showcases.

01-10-2011, 03:03 PM
I totally agree. December was a really crazy month for me so I slacked off a lot on front page plugs for artwork, but I'm getting back into the swing of things again now.

01-10-2011, 03:05 PM
:) More than front page! another award :) deserved! Cheers Love TRON and love your work Andrew!

01-10-2011, 03:06 PM
Absolutely stunning render. My only criticism is that the vixen looks pre-teen in proportion, but with obvious anatomical enhancements, like a beauty pageant kid. Confusing... :argh:

I really like the choice in background as well.

01-10-2011, 03:29 PM
Hmm, im not really seeing the age thing. Should her legs be longer? Her head smaller? Im used to doing stylised stuff, so perhaps the proportions are not perfect...

Greyscale & closeups - right click / view image to see it a bit larger:

01-10-2011, 03:31 PM
Looks amazing!

01-10-2011, 03:58 PM
Stunning work! very stylish and well done.

01-10-2011, 03:58 PM
Beautiful :)

01-10-2011, 03:59 PM
Beautiful! Just OSOM!!! :D

01-10-2011, 04:05 PM
Love it ! Congrats, another great piece !

01-10-2011, 04:05 PM
dude your work is awesome , a little short is not that bad .

01-10-2011, 04:07 PM
superb work! really like the stylized look of it ;)

01-10-2011, 04:22 PM
Love it.

Great idea Andy.

01-10-2011, 04:24 PM
great work andy.. love the style.

01-10-2011, 04:38 PM
There should be more frontpage art updates. The features are good and all, but for me, CGtalk is all about the artist showcases.

Kudos to that!
BTW, nice artwork, specially on the shaders and post work.

01-10-2011, 04:45 PM
top notch work Andy! besides the stunning character, I really like the overall composition/pose/framing,
can't wait yo see your next work!!

01-10-2011, 04:45 PM
What's wrong with being short?
Short girls are the sexiest and the cutest...

She's so amaaaazing!!

01-10-2011, 04:56 PM
Hmm, im not really seeing the age thing. Should her legs be longer? Her head smaller? Im used to doing stylised stuff, so perhaps the proportions are not perfect...

I think what's throwing it off for me is the scale of the head and the facial features (small upturned nose, wide-set eyes, etc) - which is indeed stylized and consistent with some of your other work. The proportions don't have to be perfect and I enjoy inspecting the detail, I just initially thought that she looked too young to flaunt the junk in the trunk. Still boss, though. :D

01-10-2011, 04:57 PM
Hmm, i believe thereís nothing really wrong with the proportions, itís more a viewing angle issue - the camera a little lower and everything is fine. But i agree about the reflections - some of them make the piece very graphical. Nonetheless an outstanding work!

01-10-2011, 05:03 PM
Another wonderfull job Andrew, congratulations!

01-10-2011, 05:32 PM
Wow Andy, That might be the first time i've seen a clay from you, given your past reluctance to show anything relating to the workup...any chance we could see a wire since you are in such a giving mood???lol.

01-10-2011, 05:42 PM
Wonderful tribute to a great movie.
Very inspiring ! Amazing work !

01-10-2011, 05:43 PM
Awesome and HOT ! :)

01-10-2011, 05:50 PM
Excellent concept idea and sweet work, congrats! Would be an awesome 3d print too ;)

01-10-2011, 05:53 PM
Everything looks awesome, except for the ridiculously small hat...

01-10-2011, 06:16 PM
Although I don't like Tron style this image looks cool:)

01-10-2011, 06:19 PM
Wow Andy !
This is going to be my favourite from all of your work !
thanks !

01-10-2011, 06:24 PM
Neon Deonne. She is perfect. The proportions look great to me ;) Your best yet.

01-10-2011, 07:04 PM
She is just so adorable, I just wanna hug her :)

Very nice though! Love the textures and character's attitude.

01-10-2011, 07:16 PM
So when are you going to change your job title from "character modeler" to "master of the 3d pinup girl"? :P

Fantastic work as usual, Andy! Are we ever going to see any of your girls in motion?

01-10-2011, 07:57 PM
love your work!

01-10-2011, 08:07 PM
Amazing! love it!! ;D

01-10-2011, 08:54 PM
You know... FABULOUS!!!:bounce:
Congrats for the FP, dear.. now the Awaaaard!! :buttrock:

01-10-2011, 09:19 PM
Wow, It's Amazing.
I like over all and specially lighting and shading.

01-10-2011, 10:27 PM
She is HOT! :)

Lovely work, a fitting tribute.

Also, I had almost the same problem with the reflections on my tank...

I feel an overwhelming urge to follow suit with more TRON fan art.

Must... resist.... urge....

01-11-2011, 12:29 AM
the color and lighting pleasure the eyes

01-11-2011, 01:34 AM
Another great work .All i can say is WOW

01-11-2011, 02:25 AM

01-11-2011, 06:27 AM

01-11-2011, 06:41 AM
Well done.

01-11-2011, 07:11 AM
Wohoo Andy is back! Nice work dude!

01-11-2011, 09:01 AM

01-11-2011, 09:25 AM
Great pic.

Yeah, too young and short ;)

01-11-2011, 09:54 AM
You are amazing! Every single thing you post manages to be absolutely original and so easy to identify as your work. This one is in my top favorites.

It had to be you to turn Tron into a beatiful sexy pinup.

Great work!

How do you manage to keep such a regular amount of work? Are you unemployed? :)

Again, congratulations!

01-11-2011, 10:14 AM
Yay! Thanks for the award, o' powers that be!
*places on mantlepiece, gives award speech, wipes tear*

Timebandit - the hat is supposed to be small. Its a cabaret style dress hat.

Trinnity - change your avatar Rebeca! Its aaaages old! I keep forgetting its you when i see it :-D

Liuba - thanks! I love your work too. Wish you were able to post more images in your portfolio though...

CGmonkeyking - Thanks for the kind words - the originality / unique thing you mentioned means a lot as its quite hard to be unique in 3DCG. As for the amount, well, i'd rather do something productive in my spare time, and although work comes and goes, ive had a bit of a break recently, so ive had time to do this, and my previous '1978' one. I rarely get paid jobs that excite me as much as my own personal projects, so its kind of a release for me to do whatever the heck i want! Mostly ends up being pinups though...

Cheers for all the comments, people!

01-11-2011, 10:20 AM
good composition

01-11-2011, 10:37 AM
Jeeeeez Andy!

Wow, just fantastic!

01-12-2011, 06:19 AM
Heart beats

01-12-2011, 01:05 PM
Damn I guess im the only person who is going to say it shes pretty fit if I could find a woman in real life with bum cheeks as nice as that I would be happy takes me back to the days of Jessica Rabbit.

P.S. great work, I hope I didnt sound to obscene lol.

01-12-2011, 01:30 PM
Fabulously beautiful!

01-12-2011, 02:01 PM
Fantastic work Andy, I love it! :applause:

01-12-2011, 02:38 PM
stunning work as ever andy. beautiful stuff :)

01-12-2011, 03:07 PM
excellent work, the thing that strikes me the most, is how effortless it all seems, i guess that's what really makes it great

01-12-2011, 05:53 PM
Now thats one sweet character set in the Tron Universe. Have thought about developing my own character influenced by TRON.

01-12-2011, 08:21 PM
Cussing awesome job dude (fantastic mrfox reference)

I love the hex patterns and the scanline on her outfit and her skin shader, looks awesome, phenomenal job

01-12-2011, 09:49 PM
I love your work!
Thats yet again a super appealing character! :applause:

Whats your secret?
Would you mind elaborating a bit more on your process?
It would be great to get some insights into the magic of Andrew Hickinbottom! ;)

Do you usually model first and then once you are satisfied texture / light and render, or is it a more iterative and exploratory process, where you
go back and forth?

Do you model your character / scene to look good from all angles, or
do you model to camera?

Do you have some kind of a setup to pose your character, or is it purely modeled?

I`d be keen to see a wireframe of the character - if you are willing to share one that is! :p

Keep up the great work!
(I wish I had time for some personal work myself)

01-12-2011, 10:49 PM
Well, the body was based on a mesh i made for an unfinished personal project 3 or 4 years ago. It was already rigged fairly basically with 3DsMax's biped rig for posing.
I tried several poses and camera angles until i got the one i wanted. Disabling the rig tempoarily, i improved the model and added clothes, a head, hair etc, bearing in mind that i wouldnt need to model too much detail where you dont see it. Once ive tweaked the pose and camera angle til im happy, i collapse the modifier stack, leaving me with an editable poly model in the pose i want. Minor mesh or proportional tweaks are then made.
Usually i make a character that looks good from all angles and poses, but as this was a quick piece, and was only intended to be seen from this angle, i cut some corners here and there.

01-12-2011, 11:55 PM
amazing work!

great work of textute and lighting! love it!

01-13-2011, 02:03 AM

I totally de-rezzed as soon as I saw this. Outstanding!

Can mere mortals ask for a wallpaper res version? Pretty please?

01-13-2011, 02:45 AM
awesome awesome piece, good job!

01-13-2011, 04:21 AM
Nice work. Great costume design. She should have been a character in the club scene

01-13-2011, 07:33 AM
hi sir,
i wish i could see the wire frame.. really curious about your topology technique modeling style like yours.

01-13-2011, 07:24 PM
Stunning work. Love it!

01-13-2011, 07:51 PM
Really nice looking image man, nice glows too. Contgrats.

01-15-2011, 12:22 AM
This is really great art and shows real imagination and flexibility.

01-15-2011, 06:02 AM
Oh man, oh man! this is as good as the whole movie :)
She is adorable! At least for my taste, I have no complaints about the proportions, she is a cartoon character after all (a very sexy one) :D

Well deserved award, congratulations!

01-15-2011, 08:07 AM
Awesome Tron pinup artwork. Why you always create such awesome pieces. I am jealous..hehe... I always wonder how you do lighting and rendering...!!
Can you please share your lighting and rendering techniques.
We all will get something to learn from you.

Sachin Sachdeva

01-15-2011, 08:50 AM

01-15-2011, 08:06 PM
Hi AndyH I'm loving your work. I was wondering if you have any how to pages or videos showing how you go about making something as impressive as you have?

01-16-2011, 11:27 AM
exelent job and great idea the lighting is awsome

01-17-2011, 03:35 AM
Wow wow, how can i leave here without saying 2 words?

Love her sexy backside.... Awesome job!

01-17-2011, 11:48 AM

01-17-2011, 12:47 PM
Realy awesome.and so sexy.great work

01-17-2011, 05:32 PM
well deserved, great model.

01-17-2011, 07:45 PM
Schweet! Loved the detail of the added scan lines.

01-18-2011, 12:24 AM
Now that a very interesting poit of view ;)

01-18-2011, 01:38 AM
=] Been looking at your stuff for several years now.
As usual you knock it out the park.
Really like your take on the "Tron" artstyle.

Five stars and I hope to see more from you in the future !

01-18-2011, 09:10 AM
Wonderful work, indeed! I love your style...

01-18-2011, 03:32 PM
Very well made like always.

01-19-2011, 03:50 PM
inspiring!!

01-20-2011, 05:57 AM
Beautiful piece! Tron was a cool movie. I'm down with the whole "black suits and neon lights" theme. Very cool!!

01-21-2011, 05:33 PM
Beautiful work, can I have her phone number? Ha ha ))) Very inspiring work!

01-21-2011, 06:12 PM
Amazing work with lights ! This is very inspiring !

01-21-2011, 06:36 PM
ah man that is so cool. love your style of work

01-27-2011, 02:05 AM
Wow! You must try other neon colors! Maybe cyan and magenta :) Right now it's just wonderful, though.

02-07-2011, 05:40 PM
I'm currenly working on my Honours Project based on 3D art/character modeling for games. I again love your model, and I was wondering if I could ask you an interesting question to help support my project's research.

Have you used 3D as mainly part of creating your characters during the concept production pipeline, and how is this done?

If you do have an answer for this, please feel free to answer this question in your own thoughts. I would be very grateful to have your own thoughts about this, so that this would help me support my project's research towards writing up my dissertation.

Thanks you, and once again great TRON character.

02-20-2011, 10:34 PM
Do something that has merit. Copying someone else's style and adding some sexualized cartoon character isn't a commendable accomplishment. Boooo! Your a hack

02-26-2011, 06:48 PM
Beautiful work wow!

02-28-2011, 01:09 AM
very well done...I like the stile

02-28-2011, 08:45 PM
I'd love a massive poster of this on my bedroom wall :)

03-01-2011, 07:24 AM
I'd love a massive poster of this on my bedroom wall :)

Thy will be done :-D

NPacittiART (http://forums.cgsociety.org/member.php?u=442247) - My drawing skills are a bit lacking, so yeah, i use 3D all the way. I find it much quicker to block out the model as i go along, tweaking it along the way. I have the design in my head.

03-01-2011, 07:31 PM
Amazing Andy, how did you make that happen! I'm deffo gonna get one.
Fancy a nice 3d print? Would really bring to life

03-01-2011, 07:44 PM
I dont think i'd do a 3d print of her, as the main thing that makes the image work is the lighting. Without a decent and somewhat specific light setup, or expensive and fiddly glow paint / wires, it wouldnt look anywhere near as good as the source image.

I am in the process of making a run of figures based on my Trixie character though:

03-01-2011, 08:03 PM
Yeh your right Andy. Think it'd cost too much to do the whole neon thing. Would look cool though if executed well enough. Who does your prints if

03-01-2011, 08:21 PM
Ahh, Ownage, wise choice as his attention to detail and workmanship lend themselves very well to your excellent sculpting talent. Will become a fan.

03-14-2011, 10:57 PM
Awesome, always love your work!

I made my website logo styled off of Tron: Legacy, great movie!
(although I like your girls outfit more than the ones in the movie ;) )

03-23-2011, 05:12 AM
this pic is great!!! i like your style how did you develop it and do you know any pointers on how to get better at modeling characters? i have a project and i am trying to model a pic i drew for some one do you know any ways i could go about it?

03-27-2011, 02:45 AM
very very nice =)
thank you

03-31-2011, 10:56 PM
Amazing work, as usual. The model is awesome, but I really like the lighting and texyuring in this image.

04-01-2011, 10:00 AM
"TRON" Cool Girl!

04-01-2011, 03:29 PM
Outstanding!!! I just joined this site and now I know I'm not worthy to be here, you Guys (& gals) are truely amazing artist!!!

04-03-2011, 02:13 AM
Awesome work! As far as her body proportions go, she reminds me of my wife around the time of our wedding. I don't see her as being disproportionate. Some fans in the TronSector forums could picture Castor hiring her and Gem sitting there rolling her eyes. lol.

04-05-2011, 06:19 PM
ok... ****ING WOW! :bounce:

04-06-2011, 02:35 PM
Your work is always dope. Love your style

04-15-2011, 01:37 PM
Wow! I haven't read all the comments but the early ones regarding her anatomical proportions I don't believe have a lot of validity. Not all beauties have to have long legs (even though I like that myself!), so I think this works okay...

If I hadn't seen the grey render I would have sworn this was all 2D work. Amazing stuff.

05-30-2011, 10:59 PM
It's just fantastic!

05-31-2011, 05:11 AM
I'd like to buy a poster so I could..... uh ..... pin it up :D.

05-31-2011, 08:08 AM

06-04-2011, 05:38 PM
Maybe he likes em' short..
She may be a bit short, but the work is awesome.
What programs was that done it?

06-26-2011, 12:23 PM
cool image....

07-07-2011, 09:42 AM
I like a lot your picture, the lighting is wonderful and the girl's style is very cool, she same a doll

07-20-2011, 10:42 AM
Just GREAT! I love TRON and I love Your work! Definitly TRON quality. Did You thought about making an opponent-girl (the good one :) ) for her - with white-blue styling? By the way - proportions are perfect and growth is perfect too. I heard that big girls are for work, small - for love ;).

07-22-2011, 08:15 PM
Did You thought about making an opponent-girl (the good one :) ) for her - with white-blue styling?.

The thought never crossed my mind, but it would be very cool - perhaps a duo!
It would be nice to try a white version, like the sirens - gotta love those white latex bodysuits! Hm - i dont intend to do any more TRON fanart, but im still buzzing with love for the film every time i watch it or listen to the soundtrack.
Ill see if i get time to do another pic! Thanks for the idea - my mind is already buzzing with things i could do for it.

07-26-2011, 02:43 PM
The thought never crossed my mind, but it would be very cool - perhaps a duo!
Hmmm... maybe bloody DISK WAR (with digital blood of course) on some old-modern-cabaret-theater scene? :)
im still buzzing with love for the film every time i watch it or listen to the soundtrack.
Heh :) I saw it three times in cinema and something about five from DVD (old and new one by one). And I was listening to the soundtrack all the time during creation of my entrance for NVART 06. A little bit crazy, I know. But life without a little bit crazy is deadly boring :).

07-26-2011, 02:53 PM
I saw it 3 times at the cinema too :-D
Im not going to do anything violent for it. Perhaps one of her on her own, then one with them both 'embracing' or something!

07-27-2011, 05:02 AM
Im not going to do anything violent for it. Perhaps one of her on her own, then one with them both 'embracing' or something!
Oh yes, I remember now - You mention it: "she's a lover, not a fighter" :). OK, make love not war and I will wait for Your new sexy TRON characters (I hope You will find the time).
Best regards and good luck!

01-18-2012, 11:43 PM
You Realy Have Skiils U Are Amazing But Why Do You Use 3ds Max Instead Of Maya Can You Make The Same Thing In Maya Or Only In 3ds Max

05-13-2012, 11:21 PM
Do you by any chance post wireframes of your models? I would really love to check it out.

BTW, awesome!

05-15-2012, 12:05 PM
magnificent !:buttrock:

07-03-2012, 02:59 PM
Very nice costume, the render is clean, great job! 5 stars :)

08-02-2012, 10:15 PM
Hey Andy, I can't help but say it. But that second picture is FAT!

Ahem, great work man. Very original, though I'm not sure exactly 'who' she would be.

08-25-2012, 03:21 PM
Great work!! n nice concept....congrats Andrew
