View Full Version : Birth Script Question

Hi guys! I was tasked to do a shot where a tornado rips the ceilings of a few houses and other stuff of the ground, so I was thinking about using a birth script to turn all the objects that need to interact with the tornado into particles and drive them with pflow.
As I'm not much of a scripter and (stupidly) have never taken the time to learn even the basics of maxScript. I followed one of bobo's tutorials found at http://www.scriptspot.com/bobo/ called "scripting custom chunks: the basics". The problem is that there is an offset where the particle gets created and the actual position of the "instanced" object.
Is there a way to get the center of the particle to be where the pivot of the object is? Any help is apreciated.

ps. I know some Mel script from my time working with maya, but maxScript looks totally diferent to me, however I'm familiar with some scripting concepts

HI,
My friend, check whether the pivot of the individual meshes are at its centre or not. Seems like an issue of pivot to me...

Cheers!!! :buttrock:

Hi, thanks for the response.. It was actually very close to that, the pivot was centered but I skiped the part where you reset the xform... silly me.
thanks again my friend.. cheers
