View Full Version : Character: Male head
Genko3D 10-15-2003, 09:18 AM Hi everybody!
This is my first post here and this is my first attempt at humanoid head modeling. I've been doing some arch. vizulisations for 2 years as a freelancer and as 3D enthusiast (i work in the field of the european integration - very far away from CG, i know..) and i jumped in the abyss of organic modeling 3 months ago - now i'm obsessed with it :)
3-4 weeks ago i was playing with a cube when i got the idea to model a totem head.. so here i am.
Made with polymodeling in max.
Please, crit on topology, modeling and abolutely everything you can think of.
Regards,

Unraveled

Nice work here. One crit however, the corners of the mouth seem a bit wide. Generally the corners of the mouth line up vertically with the pupils of the eye.
Great job, especially for a first attempt!

your topology seems to work, i would move the jaw back a little, along with the neck, and like unraveled said, give him a less wide smile :)

actually, i kinda made such a wide mouth on purpose.. but i'll definetly try it with smaller one.
and i'll push the jaw and/or the neck back too.
I'll try to model some teeth and tongue, and hopefully will post monday.
Thanks again!

i think it has a lot of potential :D, pulling the whole upper part of the head forwars wouldn't hurt :D

Ok. I tried to do what you told me -
1. made the mouth narrower
2. moved the jaw and the neck back
3. pulled the upperhead forward
i also tried to give him some teeth, wrinkles and eye details
here goes:

Please, tell me if something looks wrong (topology/proportions/anything)
I want to start the body modeling, but i have no clue how it should look like in order to get along with head.. I made a mistake and started this whithout any drawing, but i suck on drawing so..
The other prob. is that i have never tried to model a body apart from that Joan of Arc tut of course.
Do you know some male body modeling tuts? Or refs? It will be very helpful!
Thank you for your time!
