This is fantastic. Some of my colleagues and I were all just admiring it when I found it on the validation queue - we all love the enormous sense of scale, and wished someone would make a film with something this size in it. Really lovely work, I love your use of complimentary colours and highlights. Going to put this on the front page right now.

Just like Leigh, I love grant scale things too. Anything that has to do with Megascale Engineering. This could definitely make a movie!

Yep, that's insanely cool! :D The choice of color is perfect in my sense. It's so colorful and vibrant, even if it's so dark.

Unfortunately, I'm sure Bill Pullman will find just the right speech to cheer the troops and bring this thing to the ground.

They had the opportunity... (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0486576/) ....they turned him (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galactus) into a cloud.

Freaking awesome work. I love the colours, and the detail in the lava cracks. Superb work!

Really cool and great visuals, looks almost 3d.

There should have been some cracks where the left claw (from our view) penetrates the earth though. Otherwise, top notch!

No joke, I just had a dream some days ago with a uber giant alien ship like this, with amazingly huge "feet" coming out of the clouds and crashing into the ocean.

This instantly reminded me of that dream. Love it.

I love the enormous scale, too. Great work. Lighting and colors top notch! One criticism though, that is the planet's surface looks unusual flat. The planet ittself is either ment to be enourmous (like Jupiter or so) or the clouds and landmass should stand out more. Esp. where the left leg (?) sits on the surface it looks very flat. Apart from that, no crits, stunning work!

Silver Surfer has been mentioned...

and its pretty similar to the Romulan drilling platform + red matter from Star Trek 2009, in that it is a planet destroyer!

My favorite though is Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy,

Breathtaking! would love to see some sort of dooms-day film like this.

small nitpick but i wonder if you'd considered making the clouds around his feet react to the fact that there's a giant pieces of metal in the middle...maybe a slight bit of turbulence or something just to make it feel a little more like they're reacting to the foreign object.

You picture is outstanding. I love the vertigo the scale gives me, it's really great. One little critic though, I didn't like (it's my personal opinion) the leg of the Red Hand that's in the center of the picture not because there's something wrong with it but because of the way it sinks into the earth (or clouds) I think there should have been more drama put into it like clouds revolving around it or the earth cracking beneath it not just one flat edge where the leg ends and where the clouds begin. It's just my opinion. The picture's great.

Well the image is great, visually, but am I the only one who thinks the idea/science behind this is ludicrous? I hate those movies (like Armageddon) where they completely ignore the laws of nature, and the machine portrayed here is clearly an impossible concept. But again, it's a very nice image.

I don't think we are much aware of all the laws of nature or what is possible within those laws.
Sure there isn't any material we know of that could provide the tensile strength to support such mega structure. Not to mention an energy source. Giant fission or Antimatter reactor? Who knows? But if you think about it, technology follows not too far behind science fiction. So anything could be possible in the future. Meanwhile, visions of the future like that, are important to drive technology forward. Of course I don't mean it in ways of making planet annihilators like that (hopefully not!), but you get my point.

I agree with you Dennik and to be honest, who cares if according to science it's not correct. The image is SIMPLY COOL. Remember gang... artistic freedom?? :-)
As for cracks and moving clouds under the forward most 'foot', perhaps this was intentional as to not draw away from the action going on under the Robot?? Perhaps has to do with 'visual perspective'??
As Leigh pointed out, amazing image!!

What has the world come to when a card game provides more interest by a single drawing which is brilliant and all of hollywood movies combined (except THor that looks cool, but half way it will get stupid). I know there is a awesome story to be told, just don't let hollywood write it.

Well, I agree that one should be careful to not underestimate future technology, but I also believe that certain already-known facts about physics and matter probably puts some "hard" limits on those future technologies that no amount of clever engineering can overcome? However, this isn't rocket science, right? :-)

nice work with all the lines and shapes althought some parts of the shape are unclear. [work on them]. and make those smoke things more effectively. work more on the universe space background. also the shadow of right leg is not correct. [if I do the work, i wont use shadow to display].

hope see more of your work. ^ ^ if you think my suggestions are bs, ignore them. they are just my personal opp. >.<

Sure, the picture is brilliantly fantastic, but there's like no interaction with the planet. The prominent "finger" is basically sitting on some clouds and water. You'd expect the clouds to be parted and distraught, and some kind of water disturbance would seem sufficient. I've never been in this situtation before so I wouldn't know but...

Anyways, asides from that slight flaw, absolutely perfect. Those colors are so magnificient. I love this so much

Your work is absolutely amazing. I can totally believe the scale and the destructive force this thing is capable of. The colors and lighting are well thought out and enhance the believability factor. I was hoping to see maybe chunks of the planet possibly floating away in space. I can also see this as an animation epic adventure.

Fantastic concept art!

It's amazing enough. I just wish you could think of and add something that can make the scene totally convincing. For instance, the larva and cracks of land looks too "straight."

On the other hand, as a concept art--I guess--it's already perfect. Inspiring. :)
