View Full Version : Tips on upgrading a motherboard?
FalineFarwell 12-27-2010, 06:36 PM I have been giving my PC some serious upgrades lately including a new case the Antec 902 (great case). The next step I believe is upgrading my motherboard and processor. I dont know the basic things to consider when upgrading these, also what is the best brands and are there different types. I am most likely going to be buying from Newegg.com so if you want to link me some pages from there that would be great!
Thanks for your time,
Faline Farwell

What will you be doing with the machine and is there a limit on how much you want to spend? Likely you'll need to upgrade the memory as well as the motherboard and processor.

Heavy work in Maya and gaming. I have picked these out that are compatible I believe.

I would suggest these instead. The additional two cores will make a substantial difference in rendering performance.

As for the memory, maybe these. The board will take up to 16GB which would cost about $180, or $90 for 8GB.
