How Can U set mental ray to use 2 cpu's? I cant find the setting like, the one in performance options in the maya render globals.

Does anyone know of a online support site for Mental ray for maya?

Straight from the manual ->

1.1 Parallelism
mental ray has been designed to take full advantage of parallel hardware. On multiprocessor machines that provide the necessary facilities, it automatically exploits thread parallelism where multiple threads of execution access shared memory. No user intervention is required to take advantage of this type of parallelism. mental ray is also capable of exploiting thread and process level parallelism where multiple threads or processes cooperate in the rendering of a single image but do not share memory. This is done using a distributed shared database that provides demand-driven transparent sharing of database items on multiple systems

*Are you experiencing any different?

I have a dual 2000+ AMD MP system. and usually when I am rendering I get about 90-100% total cpu usage except for while it is actually computing Paintfx or fur. But in mental ray renders I only get 50%. So mental ray uses all available allt the time does this automatically? crapy! Coz IN maya renders I have to specifically specify Render on 2 cpu's "all available" only runs at 50% also.

Well sorry to hear that. I hear you about MR though... but I think it's more in Aw's court, because it's really they way they have setup MR to interface with Maya that has resulted in most of the issues we have to address. Anywaaaay, I hope they get most of this stuff smooothed out by version 5.
