View Full Version : CheyTac M200 Intervention
limdaepl 12-21-2010, 11:44 PM Hey gang,
the ak47 wip thread by Polygoblin inspired me to try a weapon model myself.
I chose to give the CheyTac Intervention a go:

This is my progress so far (861 faces/1982 tris):

http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk103/limdaepl/wip01_wire.jpg
I plan to do a low-poly version with diffuse and spec maps as well as a high-poly version for normal baking. The usual :)
Please let me know what you guys think!
Regards Roman

Modeling all those little dents there was probably somewhat insane, but here we go :D

I finally found some time to work on this beauty again.
I'm making a lowpoly version and transfer normal maps from the highpoly version. This is the first time i'm baking normal maps so please go easy on me :D
The parts below have 1400 tris. The whole lowpoly model has 3400 tris.

I finished the normal map and started with some basic texturing.

For now Im using 2K maps which i might scale down to 1K later. What would you guys consider reasonable for a model of this size (3500 tris)?
Please let me know what you think!

Still not sure what kind of camouflage I'm going to use. I'll probably do several though. Suggestions?

I like that snow camo! I would spend some more geo to round out the butt a bit more, it's the only part that really looks faceted. You have a lot of smaller things with rounder edges in the model, so this should get some love.

I agree, the one thing that stands out is the end of the buttstock, its a bit too low poly compared to the look of the rest of the gun.put some more polys in there(if you are going to use it as a game model, this would also be a part that comes into view quite often, keep that in mind)
I really dig that last camo too!, its modern, suits the gun perfectly!
Keep it up man!!
