View Full Version : Render window not updating problem -
enforcer2k 06-01-2002, 02:16 AM Here's my problem I've had 2 nvidia cards so far, a geforce 1 and now a geforce2 Quadro and I have had this problem on both...
When I begin to render in maya the Render View the window updates for a bit, but if I click in the window or select another application while Maya is still rendering, the viewport freezes and goes white, and does not update until the image is completed and Maya is done.
Is this common with any other Nvidia users or is this just me and what do you think the problem might be. Please no post telling me to get a faster card. Just trying to resolve this annoying quibble.

I've been using GF2 modified to Quadro 2 for ages in Maya, but I've never got that problem, so I'd say it's only you. Maybe you should try and reinstall windows and Maya if you haven't since the update of the graphics card, it could cure it.

If it helps, I've always used the Nvidia gualifieq 14.11 (Quadro modded) drivers.

Maya on Windows XP has slightly different window focus interaction than on other OSes. For example, if you render in the Render View window and switch focus to another Maya window or another application and back to the Render View, the Render View may not update, or may turn completely white giving the appearance that it has hung. The window will update when the render completes. (On other OSes it updates when each tile is finished rendering.) You may see similar interactions in other windows.

I've had this problem on:
NT 4.0 using 3Dlabs (?)
2000 using Matrox G400
2000 using Geforce4 MX
I never considered it a problem though... i thought it was just "one of those things".

Yeah it's not a terrifcally big problem considering that there is always maya batch.. Just a big pity... And very annoying, esp. when you pay a lot for software and a system that you want to work seamlessly...
I sure wish someone had a solution but I'm glad to know at least that I'm not alone with this...
Finding a gui based batch frontend might ease my pain I think :)

front-end??? Funny word eh? Self contradictory :P
