its a little something I did this weekend for a compo happening on the polycount boards, will start to model her this week.

Her name is "Cauchemar" and shes a child vampire. Originally she was a Succubus but a quick visit towww.dictionary.com taught me that Succubi are deamons, not quite in the categories for the challenge, so the wings had to go.

it may look simple but this concept is actually the end result of many itterations and drafts. I don't seem to be able to model with getting a really good feel for the character, and I can't get a really good feel for the character without drawing it numerous times!
I've removed jewlery, wings, accesories, weapons & hair. I tried to add a lot of detail but none of it gelled. Best to keep things simple.

I forsee that with this model, there won't be a single noticeable poly edge thanks to the simplicity of the design and the generous budget I have.

ok a bit of info here, that I should have posted in the first place.
I use flash to illustrate this sort of concept stuff, however I'd like to consider that its gonna work both ways: I'll use the vector illustration for an anim or something similar.
The white outline it just slapped on in photoshop.

Inspirations for the style come from many sources ;) The hair was imagined from a young woman in the office where I work (yes we have ladies at babel!) then I used influences from a Japanese artist called Junko Mizuno to finish it off, also the legs were inspired from Junko, however she won't draw feet so I popped some feet on there!
Eyes: certainly from playing too much zelda, don't know how I'm going to make these work well without textures...
Her, erm, pelvic area is an influence from all those sexy Japanese CG pics one finds dotted about the internet. I've always been amazed how they can draw a good crotch, I absorbed it and have worked it into my own style now.
Nothing was done from direct reference, even when it came to illustrating in flash, I perched my sketches (http://www.gtp.org.uk/junk.images/succubus.jpg) next to my screen instead of tracing. Why flash? Its easier to do stuff without the aid of a wacom (which I dont have at home)

Sir Patroclo: theres not much recent stuff that I can show, as its all work related, however I did make this (http://www.gtp.org.uk/junk.images/chara.swf) back in feb... I'll hopefully get my website back online one day!
