Hi,

I'm currently experimenting with character rigs in max, and i'm looking for a way to easily switch between IK and FK for the arm.

I thought i could add a custom attribute to a helper and wire that to the solvers ENABLE property..but, er, i cant. It seems to be the one parameter in the whole of max that you cant do this with.

So does anyone have any solutions/advice? I thought this would be a fairly simple procedure that would mean i didnt have to go through the hassle of setting up individual IK and FK rigs with blended constraints.

Thanks

Quite simply, it can't be wired.... you aren't missing anything.

However, to combine IK and FK, have you checked the tutorial manual on that? I believe there's a section which covers exactly that topic, and it works well.

i've looked at the tutorial i mention - you have to select the IK goal and turn it on/off in the motion panel.

the reason i'm not doing it that way is that in my rig i want the IK handle to be parented to a null at the wrist that will control -
IK SWIVEL ANGLE
IK>FK on/off
Fingers/Thumb sliders

I'd like everything in one place, but now it looks like i cant do it that way...

...Which is arse!

Thanks all the same - maybe in the next version
