View Full Version : Multiple Animated Boolean Subtracts on One Object?
Alterscape 10-12-2003, 09:30 PM I know this is a ridiculously simple question, but I can't puzzle it out with the manual or tutorials that I've found -- I need to animate the creation of bullet holes in an object over time. The best technique I've discovered is to make a boolean object, create a second object with the bullethole shape, boolean-subtract it, and then animate the position of the object being subtracted. That works great for a single bullet-hole. However, is there a way I can do this multiple times to the same object without losing the ability to edit the frames for the previous booleans when I add more subtractions to the base object? I suppose I could create a number of different models, and keyframe their visibility tracks, but this doesn't seem particularly elegant..

I just did a lil test file and was able to make two cylinders penetrate a box using two booleans, then I was able to move the keyframe timing of both operands independantly... as well as view and manipulate the keys in track view.
Did you create a new boolean for the second opperand?
Seems to be working in my simple file.

Ok, I stand corrected. I was under the impression that creating a new boolean object flattened everything in the stack under the boolean.. but apparantly that isn't the case. Sorry for the silly question.
