Title: Whispers
Name: Olivier Ponsonnet
Country: France
Software: 3ds max, Photoshop, ZBrush
Hi, here is my latest picture.
I tried this time to represent an invoker, surrounded by summoned spirits. Pretty much everything was modelled in 3dsmax. I've added more details and refinements to the head, hands and owl skull using Zbrush. All textures are hand painted with Photoshop.
I hope you'll like it!

Your images seem to be getting more and more realistic while still retaining your unique style - I guess you have been experimenting with the dark film-style grain effects.
I also notice you are using Zbrush now - but only for sculpting. Do you intend to texture using ZB or will you continue to do so mainly in Photoshop?
Thanks again for inspiring us, Ruchir.

hello,
Astonishing.
My monitor was off. Thats why i thought it was slightly low contrast. My bad. Cracker Jacks.
:bounce:
Thanks for your replys, I really do appreciate.
C1Workshop : I'll post textures and wires soon.
Ruchir : I don't know about texturing abilities. I mean with ZBrush 3.5 R3, you don't haves layers with masks for textures or different blend modes (like overlay, color dodge..). So unless it's ways better in the ZB R4, I'll stick to PS.
jeffreydietrich : There's no real purpose to this filter, I mean I simply like the way it looks :)

You never cease to amaze with both your artistry and technical skill. You are one of my primary sources of inspiration, and if a 3D artist can have fans I am among your biggest.

very nice work
Great job Olivier, I can't wait to see the wireframes and textures. This might seem like a small thing but I really like the bone necklace (which seems to be where you have centered your composition). Did you use SSS on the bones? They look very realistic.
You couldn't go into more detail on how you manage to get such good shading on the eye by chance? Do you do much touching up in photoshop? You always seem to get really natural highlights in the bottom of the iris while shading the top (even in the low/difficult light). Also the specular/reflections work really well.
(sorry for the rant! ><)
Fantastic as always!

Beautiful composition/execution. The grasping hands coupled with the haunting expression evoke a feeling of impending doom and a realisation of utter despair.

Olivier: ZB4 does have layers with blending (finally). But it doesn't seem to do transparency, except in a kind of pitch black = transparent option. Also, while projection painting makes life fun, I don;t seem to get good sharp bump maps - or maybe it's just my settings, Therefore I am thinking of moving my texturing from ZB4 to Gimp (can't afford PS - yet).

Superbly done low key - beautiful with the light accents and the subtle reflections. Filtering, styling and overall lighting mood remind me on Paolo Roversis polaroids of the 1990s. The pose of the fingers is partially unnatural, revealing the 3D origin, but probably intended.
A true masterpiece!
Great work, this kind of style looks awesome.

this is great man!! ( as usual ) ...I have a question, you mentioned 3dsmax, but is it max's default renderer you're using or is it like vray or mental ray?...etc...I'm very curious as I'm thinking about switching to 3dsmax and I understand it's your style, but I always like the way your renders come out....
