View Full Version : Mechanical Rig Problem

Allright, so here is the problem I am having. I have these 5 dummys constrained to the path. The line has a linked x-form with the blue point helper as the control object (image1). I can move the blue point helper and the dummys follow the path (image2). The problem comes in when I rotate the main control. the green dummies do not rotate (image3). So my question is how to I get the dummies to "follow" the path and rotate with the main control? Any suggestions would be great!

As you're using a helper to translate a vertex with the linked xform modifier, it will not receive any rotation since vertices do not have rotation, only position.

You will need to drive the rotation in another way. The simplest method would be to use parameter wiring.

An Orientation Constraint would be an idea too.

Thank you for the suggestions! I was making it much harder then it needed to be. I can just use wire parameters. Unfortunately it means re-rigging the arms for the charcter, but it shouldn't be too bad. Thanks again!
