View Full Version : Website > Digital Explosions
Krisc 10-12-2003, 05:16 AM I am 17 years old and I am going to Major in Computer Science and take a bunch of courses in 3D Modeling and Digital Media. I am visiting one of my target colleges this Monday (Sienna) and am going to have an interview. I will mention, if not show, my site so I need all the critiquing I can get. Not too much on the colour scheme though as I am pretty happy on that and pretty much unwilling to change it to radical measures.
Thanks!

ok .... you obviously know some HTML so that will put you in good stead for your interview.
your website needs some work ......... the main thing to me is that the graphic design looks too simple first off ...... (please bare in mind that you will be learning SO much in your course and come out with a much better knowledge of graphich design and web development ... so dont despair)..... theres alot that could be done but start with one improvment then move to the next.
suggestions:
:: take a look at www.coolhomepages.com and find things you like .... take particular notice of features that various sites use and think about why they look good.
:: you need more colour variation... different hues ... different saturations
BUT... at your age i didnt know a thing about web development so you are doing really well........ stick with it ok ! :)

yes your site does need some work.
a couple of things I would suggest...
1.the header graphic" digital explosions" it is very large and fairly uninteresting. I would suggest making it about 1/3 the size and aligning it to the left where it begins now and maybe sprusing it up a bit
2. The font you are using is very bland, I can see by your code you are familiar with css so it will not be a drama to change that globally. Go and have a look at http://www.alistapart.com/stories/indexCSS.html and
http://www.zeldman.com/
they do really nice minimal sort of css stuff, I think you will like it.
hope It helps.

Are there any tutorials I can look at for creating cool logos? I use Paint Shop Pro 7, 3DS Max 5 and Rhino2.2...?
I have updated the logo for now, but I am still unpleased with it.
