Anyone know of any workarounds to get mental ray to render particle sprites while honoring opacityPP/rgbPP? had a bit of a search and couldn't find anything

failing this, any efficient methods for passing opacityPP/rgbPP to instanced geometry?

can SOuP do this?

Well i kill myself trying to solve this. But Man to make it simple , you have no way to transmit pp attribute to your instance in mental ray for maya. (i know we are in 2010 ... :cry: )

so you have 2 solutions
- use sprite if you can
- use this script that works perfectly, but it uninstance your obj, so you have to relunch the script each time you want modification to your opacity

i start to make something similar by using vertex color you can check this

the last and the best solution is to use 3delight or prman ... but it's an other story ...
