Heya..

I am studying the dynamics realy seriously from some time. And i've decided to post the videos i am outputing from Maya, so i can hear you'r opinion :)

All kind of comments \ crits are more than welcome.

I will update the threat with more videos in a future of-course.

Barrel Fire.

Fluid fire and glowing particles. The particles are driven by the fluids:

I've found that if i use the actuall geometry from the candle-wick, or create emitter with volume shape (Cylinder) the effect is different. Here i have used the second setUp.

There are some strange waves on the side of the flame, but i guess it's because of the instability of the fluid. I guess i shoud add little bit more damp hm..

Looks pretty cooool. Have you tried using fluid Textures on the Opacity? It doesn't work well with smoke, but it makes the flames more realistic...I think. you may get good results with GRID based texture but you have to sim every 500 frames or so and comp it together because GRID base does smeer and loose alot of detail. I'm experimenting also. :) I'll post some experiments this afternoon.

I really really like your candle flame. looks really good. Do you mind posting your maya file? I would love to see how you setup your opacity graph.

hey instruct9r,

this is what i came up with. its a bit blobby and you can see the voxels but i think its a success.
This is using Maya Fluids with the Perlin Noise and texture Opacity turned on and the texture type set to Grid. rez is 50x50x50

Hey denislav, great sim on the barrel on fire. The only things "I" would change are;

Let the smoke builds up a bit then emit the particles, the fluid bubbles up too much at the beginning of the scenes, they seem too funky.

I would also try a streak aproach, I picked up some references, though they dont have as many as streaks I would like to show on a reference, you get the idea.

Other then that, maybe a random fire light on the ouside of the barrel and a little night light. I also found this great idea for adding to your sim. *WARNING* Big explosion sound at the end of the video, dont wear any earplugs!*WARNING*
