View Full Version : Spy Kids question
dfusion 10-11-2003, 07:28 AM I'm reading CineFex and got to the article on Spy Kids 3D and specifically I'm reading where XSI was used for the robot fight in "Arena of Misfortune". I haven't seen the movie so I don't know this part, but it talks about how XSI was used for this but Lightwave was used for the smoke and sparkles. I'm curious why someone would segment out just the smoke and sparkles for Lightwave? XSI is just as capable.. Thanks.

I would say it was because of LW's particles can use hypervoxels.

Cause spy kids 3d it's a stereoscopic film and xsi's particles are 2d... too bad for a stereoscopic image.

Indeed, real 3D volume & hypervoxels were easier to handle in SpyKids 3D because of the anaglyph output. We also use a tried-and-tested LW particle pipeline since the SI3D days.
