Wow. that's really impressive. the multimedia left my eyebrows singed. great modeling and compositing. my only crit would be that hitting the back button puts you back at the start of the site instead of the contents page. you also managed to make yourself look like a character out of a gap ad. I dont know if that is good or bad...
cg talk doesnt usually generate a lot of comments on web sites but i think everyone should at least take a look at this one.

pshhh AHAHAHH nice 1, i think it's not LOL uh man i can't stop laughing.. i think it's nice (the gap thing) LOL
the website KIX AZ OF COURSE,
one thing no one mentioned: the LONG load times, maybe he changed it cuz when i was there a few days ago it took a LOOOONG time for the content to load (and i have cable)
but now it seems fine but i'm on a diff computer.
can someone confirm or deny this plz, tnx
also i need more content. it's nice to read about ur life and all , but i want samples of stuff, not (coming soon) if i want to hire you
also after you watch the intro (very cool voice) there is no "enter" or "take me to your site" or "home" button, maybe i'm blind, but you gotta click the back button to enter....anyhow
also could you (i know it's not ur website, i'm typing as if it were) send me one of those 3d screens, TNX :D

Liked the look of the site a lot, but you need a consistant navigation system.
Example:
I accidentally clicked on the "contact" link at got to where it was prompting for name/e-mail/message/etc...
There was no way for me to navigate back once I noticed my mistake. As others stated, the back button just takes you to the main page where you have to wait for a few seconds looking at a blank blue screen before you are allowed to click on a link which will then take you to the main page of your site.
At the minimum You need to keep the main menu on each flash page, always located in the same position. No matter how nice your site looks you will drive people away if they get lost navigating in it.

very cool site man....I like it alot..
I used to do that type of work for a multimedia company but thats been a while.
did you render out the 3d frames to an image sequence or didi you use a 3d plugin to convert stuff to flash?

This site is very good, but i'm suprised no one mentioned that the navigation wasn't 3d at all, it was just a bar at the top. This was its biggest flaw (along with the explosion transitions). Props to Billy for trying something a little more 3 dimensional. I look forward to version 3.

I was woundering if you were inspired by who's we studios. They were my insiration for some 3d web content I made. Your site is kick ass. I've never thought about making my intro a quick time movie--good idea man. The only problem I ran into is the computer ran out of virtual memory. I don't care if the navigation was at the top and not "3D." It's simple, but very impressive still. I hope to see more work from you.:buttrock:
very cool site design, but I laughed VERY hard at how narcissistic that guy is. He has great modeling + design skills, but he seems to be really full of himself. That's the first portfolio site I've ever seen that seemed to revolve around the guy and not the work. Like he's a movie star or something. Just judging from this guy's website, I would not want to work with him on a team project. Seems like he'd always be saying things like "Hey, guys, wait a minute, I'm Billy Bussey, didn't you know that? I mean, c'mon, I'm Billy Bussey. Like, jeeze.... I'm Billy Bussey."
sorry, heh. Great skills though.
AMAZING site, i really love the loading scene with the 3d cubes

Clearly one of the most impressive web sites I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Very original and very enguaging. This young man's talent is definitely top shelf. I was completely blown away. No Gap ad ever looked anything like this. Billy just rocks, plain and simple.:buttrock:

The intro is hilarious. Its neat and all, but I was loading my 3D stuff into Flash when I was 16, 3 years before Billy gave birth to his "3D" internet. And 6 years before anyone I knew could download it (thats a bandwidth-intense site y'all). Lots of people did just that. This guy can't be serious.

HenningK,
Such brazen arrogance should always be accompanied by a URL that leads me to a site that blows this Billy's away. Since your post was bereft of anything that even remotely lends creedence to your spew, I can only assume that its simply your jealousy rearing its ugly head.
Celebrate Billy's efforts, instead of serving up Crow pie for all of us to watch you eat. Oh, and you have a nice day.

AC. You, sir, are awesome... and I should like to correspond with you personally on other issues someday. That I am an arrogant man is an allegation I cannot contest, but I do thank you for pointing it out so piquantly.
You may look at henningk.com if you wish, however you are unlikely to find anything approbating the self-righteousness of my spew.
As I said, *the site is neat and all*, but the claim as to its conceptual uniqueness is flawed. How do I know? Because I saw lots of other sites 3 years before '99, including my own, that used the same technique, albeit to admittedly-less slick-results. I apologize for not spewing sufficiently upon the other merits of his site, of which there are a surfeit. Im out of space though. <sigh>

HennigK,
My apologies for my pointy response. I do, indeed, concure that technologically, Billy's work doesn't represent anything groundbreaking. In terms of the creative and masterful control of the medium, his work is very unique. Pleasing to the eye, to say the very least. Perhaps I missed part of the thread. ;)
As for my web site, I thank you for your time and for your kind words. Feel free to contact me and I'll fill you in on where I stand. Once again, apologies for the pointy stick to the ribs. It was rude and uncalled for. Peace?

---> ice breaker <---
i think does really well as a graphic design and as a 3D artist... that goes without saying...... well done billy!
BUT... and there always is one ..... the user interface design lacks clarity ..... and its also been said .. bandwidth is an issue.
yes i am bitching ....... aesthetically this is much better than anything i could ever produce :annoyed:

"Hey, guys, wait a minute, I'm Billy Bussey, didn't you know that? I mean, c'mon, I'm Billy Bussey. Like, jeeze.... I'm Billy Bussey."
Billy B. as harsh as this might sound, he has a point. you dont want your talent to be overshadowed by what appears to be arrogance. You might be the most humble guy in the world but your site doesnt read that way. It reads as "talented and aware of it", i mean holy crap! your about me page has 3 SECTIONS, TWO PAGES EACH. With modeling and compositing skills like that you MUST have some great stuff to show. It seems like that would be posted before the about me stuff. just a thought.
HennigK and AC_Shrike- aaaawww. sounds like the start of a long and happy friendship. wish ya the best of luck.

Hey Man, thats probably one of the best sites i've seen. i like how you have combined the flash and 3d together, very professional looking. I also really like the music, it really sets the right mood but kinda makes me feel lonely. The only thing you could probably fix is the navigation which almost everyone has mentioned.
Keep up the good work

I forgot to check. Are you able to book mark any of the pages? I remember that as a big failing in Flash designed pages. The customer is forced to hunt and drill down each time they visit.
