View Full Version : Cloth
gomelchuck 10-09-2003, 04:50 PM Now that stitch has been discontinued for Max, what are artist going to use in the future to solve complex cloth issues? Has anyone out there found an alternative? Clothsim does not seem to have the capabilities that Stitch had.

I don't know but if you go to the digimation site, its not listed in the products anymore. If you do a search on their site it will bring it up, but it says no longer available. Strange...

Yes youīre right, thatīs strange. Stitch Lite was pretty cheap and I was thinking of buying it once, then I heard of simcloth 3 and decided to wait for some time to see whatīs will happen in the feature. I belive you can do a lot with simcloth 3, especially when vlado updates some features that are still missing from 2.5
Talking about cloth simulation I tried Kelseus cloth once and thatīs not available anymore either.
What about Reactor Cloth in max 6? perhaps itīs better than the earlier version.
One would think that there would be good market for cloth simulation plugins.

i was at the 3ds max Evolve tour at they used Reactor to flatten a mesh to the floor so they could paint it on Photoshop [instead of using UVW Unwrap].
besides that, i don't know if the Reactor cloth is any better then before [then again, i've never used it]. but they did mention they fixed some stuff in Reactor. you'll only have to wait a bit longer to test it out...

Stitch will come back as ClothFX
available through Turbosquid as DCP-Pugin.
That`s what one of the developers said at the discreet
board.

AFAIK, Turbosquid has only little information for the public yet. Here are two e-mails I received last week when I asked them about Cloth FX:
No. 1:
Thanks for your mail and nice to hear from you. Who are your sources:)? Currently, we are working on the upgrade path to cloth FX and will have more details as we get closer to the release date.
No. 2:
You will be able to use the Cloth FX with MAX 5 and the upgrade path will not be expensive. No worries.
I hope this helps.
