Hi all,

I’m about to animate my poly character but I’ve discovered that it’s pretty heavy; Exit a polygon option for reduce my character subdivisions?

Thanks for any suggestions

You can goto Polygons > Reduce, but I think you'd be better off making some quick proxy geometry.

Just shape some cubes to fill out the rough volumes of your character and parent them to the appropriate joints. Then just hide the hi-res version until render time.

Another option would be to cut up a duplicate of your character using Edit Polygons > Extract (make sure to uncheck "Separate Extracted Faces") and then Edit Polygons > Separate. Select faces for the separate pieces for extract, and for separate select the geometry in object mode. Then use polygon reduce on those separate pieces to speed things up a bit.

This way you'll still have a good approximation of your character's volume, but you won't have the deforming geometry to slow down your file.
