yeah, i'll probably end up going to see it... but it's a shame that after all these years, no one can touch the level of amazingness of Who Framed Roger Rabbit, even with all the advances in computer technology. i don't believe there was a single computer involved in the creation of the characters in Roger Rabbit.
just goes to show you, genuine artistic talent can surpass technological advances any day.

It's slated to open November 14, 2003. My main enouragement is that Joe Dante is directing. TV spots have already been running for the past couple of weeks.
As far as that comparison one thing that Roger Rabbit had was that Spielberg was very hands on and flexed his muscles to make the project happen (Disney and Warner characters in the same movie). Part of that was also in making sure enough time and resources devoted for the animation. You have to wonder how much resources Looney Tunes had devoted to that. Even with all the talent and computers there might have been great constraints.
Anyway looks like fun. Hopefully it won't get too buried as it will open against Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World.

Gah, am I the only one that thinks this looks terrible? I mean it looks better than Space Jam or whatever that awful one with Jordan in it, but still I feel like it betrays the soul of the Loony Tunes.
I don't feel the Loony Tunes characters should be put into 'the real world' or interact with 'real people'.
It worked in the construct of Roger Rabbit, but otherwise It just seems weird and out of place to me. I'd prefer to see some 6 min shorts before a movie than see them in a whole movie themselves.
I'll probably never see this.
thanks for the link though.

No. It looks like a typical stupid Brendan Fraser flick. I don't know how this guy can pull off a decent role (The Quiet American, Gods and Monsters), then turn around and put himself in a movie that's obviously going to suck (Dudley Do-Right, Encino Man, George of the Jungle, etc.).

is there any way to get windows media player to buffer as much as you tell it to? i tell it to buffer 60seconds, and it starts playing almost as soon as the link opens, i can't watch the trailer because it keeps pausing to rebuffer, and i have 1.5gb ram, so it can't be filling up my ram ;)
just curious if there is a trick to fixing that :)

There is something missing from this movie (other than the unfunny gags) but i cant put my finger on it.
The characters in Who framed roger rabbit belonged in the same world with the actors , this one feels like its two different movies going at the same time.
I'll probably pass this one and get the dvd just for animation reference.

Who framed Roger Rabbit was great because of the great actors, the seamless combination of the animation and the real people/sets, and the story was fun as well.
What ruined any other WB Loony Tunes movies as this one was the presence of the real actors. It screams "Hey, I'm an actor from Hollywood and I'm acting along animated characters. Oh oh, Daffy Duck has a danamite in his hands again!" Basicly, screw the actors, we just want the toons.
The story sounds ridiculous because nobody can be taken seriously, unlike in Roger Rabbit where the villain was a living charicature yet could be taken very seriously in the context of the movie. In this one the actor playing the villain screams bad actor and has to over-act to hide it. Same goes for the story, Roger Rabbit had a serious yet simple one, but in this case they couldn't write anything decent so they take the easy way by making it completely unoriginal under the guise of "it's just like in the cartoons!"
I think it would be great if all the main characters were the toons, except maybe for the villain, but in that case take a great actor and write a decent story.
