really good..
but i think you should work on the tires´s textures..
they´re so clean..
maybe you could put some noise..

EDIT: i just noticed your front tire size... 315 i think... LOL

judging by the pic, id say those are either 245\45r17 or 225\45r17, and thats the front size, rear on that car i bet you could go 315\35\r17.

Good job on getting the sidewall done exactly how it is.

PS: i worked as a tire installer for 3 years :-), a lot of blood and stiches.. but i learnt something :-).

Anyways the Khumo line of high performance tires is very popular, low cost, good grip and relatively good tire life for a racing tire, be sure to check the inside wear on your car, the older cars tend to change the camber angle as the suspension compresses, such as when cornering, causing a lot more wear mainly to the inside of the fronts. If you reverse the tire before the wear reaches the core, you can use the tires for a long time.
Obviously when reversing, you have to switch the sides the tires are on since it is a unidirectional tread pattern.

And BTW, the tires you have are the V700, because there are another set of V700R which are more race oriented, they have about 2/32nds of an inch tread, and are asymetrical.

Sorry to go OT.

are you going to model the suspension?

Damn that car is SHARP!!!

I hate you I hate you I hate you I hate you.....

By the way, the texturing on the tires is Ace d00d!! Love it !!!!!!

Great man !! But i don't like first screen (too clean for me too).
But great work on models, patch nurbs isn't it??. I have a question about your'e tire >
is it a displacement map? (I talk for the inscriptions and side) or simple bump??

Ace Modelling, but no 3D model would match the pride of owning it in real life! you lucky, lucky swine!
Its so good seeing a classic muscle car built up, instead of endless Ferrari Enzo's and porsches!
Are you using nurbs or subdivided polys? Any chance of getting a look at the unsubdivided model, in that case?
If i have to be super critical, its that the shader seems a bit too reflective - id say either dull it down or put something more intresting for it to reflect - its lookin a bit 'airbrushed' at the mo. Like the 'endless horizon' reflection we saw in a lot of old early CG. Excellent model though!
The Wire pic is really handy reference for me - I recently started modelling a '71 dodge Challenger (fave car in the world!) in Lightwave as a modelling excercise.

Best o' luck with the model (and the real one!)

@bluestar77 this is a wip thread you can't rate the image here. I don't like rating wips cause this is not finished. Wait with this for the final.

For the model i have to say WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO that's some phat stuff. Like muscles. For the materials you got some way to go. Tire tex is ok but a little to shiny right now. car paint shader is good but needs some better lighting. The chrome and the material for the exhaust looks way to shiny. some dirt would do.

Thanks for your crits and cheers !

The model is made in XSI subdiv polys. the tire sidewalls are just simple bumps (might make a model version later :) )

The render is made to look a bit airbrush / illustrator styled since it's composed on a soild white background...As soon as it stops raining here in Sweden i'll take my freinds 68 Camaro to a parkinglot and snap som pictures with and without the car in them and use them to do some nicer images with hdri and dirt, scratches etc.

Heres another rendering i did earlier (nevermind the flat roof)

The ground is a serious speed-hack... i realized that i needed a tileable piece of asphalt but i was to lazy to snap a picture myself so i searched for "asphalt" on altavista and found a small picture that i just tweeked a bit and then i mixed that texture with a fractal in the render-tree to make it more random looking...and it looked quite ok... if you look closely you can see that it repeats a bunch of times... i'll fix this for the finals :)
