Hi people

I'm trying to make a photorealistic car, bu I don't know which effects should I use to achieve that goal. What would you recommend for a daylight rendering? What are the characteristcs I should consider when making a surface like a painted body?

Thank you

Jorge

If I were you I'd download a preset for the car body, then study it to learn the important things. To start off, you can get some really cool car surface presets from http://www.simplyLightWave.com

Oops, thanks!
I edited it now. I usually check to make sure the link works before posting, but this time I forgot. :)

Greetings Jorge,

I am working on an animated truck commercial now and am having a fair amount of success with just distant light pointing straight down... Of course this is *after* I baked out the radiosity shadow cast by the truck to save on render time, then just cranked the floor's luminosity up and applied the shadow to the luminosity. See attached. Ignore the foot's shadow, since I am faking that too (won't be seen long enough to matter :) ).

Also, the BDRF shader can really help with car paint.
