Hi everybody

My name is Klaes Simonsen. I’m studying in Carlisle, UK. “The art of game design”

This weapon was an assignment, where the poly count was 1.000 poly.

I design a Axe with two handless, so the worrior could throught the axe without loosing it.


The light setup is crap, if anyone knows a good tut for a good light setup, please forward the link.-

as someone who trains with alot of weapons including knunchucks I gotta say that would almost kill anyone attempting to use it in a non thrown manner.

Also there is too much metal for such thin wood, this has to be a work of complete fantasy right? lol

It is a nice design, not sure if it has much functionality. I feel like every time I swing the ax the tips of the blades would dig into my wrists. What program are you modeling in Maya, Max, SoftImage? As for the lighting I would recommend you try using a program like Marmoset Toolbag you can use a trial or buy it for 50 buck well worth the money in my opinion. Is your texture just a diffuse or does it have a normal map and a specular as well? If you do could you post them the chain may just be too reflective. Great idea and the model seem to be pretty good could you post a picture of the wireframe?

Okay the spec map isn't too bad, still could use some work definitely recommend that you give the blood at least some spec and possibly a little normal. The scratches on the blade seem painted on could push the normal a little farther. Keep in mind that metal is more white on a spec map and wood is more on the grey side. Your topology is really good you may be able to trim a few more polygons out here and their but I would say as long as it is within the limit you are fine. Just wondering on your spec map why are their two areas that have color was that on purpose? Is the skull supposed to made of bone or a metal?
