View Full Version : Presentation and first work
antlab 10-08-2003, 11:16 PM Hi all. I just registered at CGTalk, after a bit of lurking. I work in image processing field, and for the moment 3D is mainly a very interesting hobby. After some experience with Bryce and Blender, I recently bougth Cinema CE+ 6. I'm starting to really love the possibilities of the program, and would like to progress also with your help. After downloaded the SDK, I began some experiments with the plugins. I would be interested in some comments of this first trial based on the Atom plugin.
Thank you.

Well, let me say welcome to the show!
I'm sure you will appreciate all the stuff you'll be able to do with your new C4D. I started out with Blender too once, and it turns out that it was a good place to learn the fundamentals.
As far as modeling and rendering goes, it's easy to get lost in all the technical aspects and "single click tricks" - and my advice to you, if you want to start creating some butt-kicking CG, is to practice a lot and try to look beyond the tech stuff. Cinema is a great package that will let you do the things you want. Practice practice practice!
Neat colors going on in that atom array, btw.

Thanks James, both for comments and advice. Actually, as new user of Cinema 4D, I have some problems. I am trying to learn to model and render, but it is really difficult resisting to the temptation of trying all the exciting possibilities of existing plugins (and luckily I found broken the link for downloading the Ditools suitable for CE+6 :))

welcome the cgtalk...there are a few italians on here..
third_eye and sanciok to watch out for.(rome and tuscany regions afaik...)..i'm presuming you're italian anyways.
enjoying yourself is most important...you'll also be surprised at how quick you learn...there also seem to be a load of people with a similar background to yourself..eg blender to 6ce...so don't let that put you off.
JamesMk makes a good point...take your sphere and see how many different things you can come up with..by learning the toolset everything else will benefit in your work.
i'm a victim of the same thing...blown away by fancy tools/plugs and then forget some of the basic right in front of me.

Thank you flingster.
Yes, I am italian, and live in Florence, Tuscany. I was very excited when I read about the possibility to purchase the full version of Cinema 6 at only 99 €, and in these days I'm working on it with a sense of surprise for the endless possibilities. Searching the web for material about the program, I found this forum, a real mine of precious information. For the moment I am a newbie of Cinema, but I hope to become proficient enough to give my own contribute to the community :).
