Hi,
I just quite finished my first plugin! It's a simple COFFEE-Plugin that can calculate Triangles. For example, when you know one side and two angles, you can calculate and create it either as Polygon or Spline.
Who want's to take a look:
Sit-file (Mac) (http://www.actual-fantasy.com/cgi-bin/plugin.pl?name=archimedes&format=sit)
Zip-file (Windows) (http://www.actual-fantasy.com/cgi-bin/plugin.pl?name=archimedes&format=zip)

cool...sounds interesting i'll give it a whorl...
however you link to zip file...downloads the file name as
plugin.pl (with the perl extension..rather than the zip file extention)...also might be worth naming the zip and sit file something like archimedes.zip and sit respectively.

thanks like the option to poly or spline...
also nice site btw...like the sticky tape on the gallery pics..and the 3d icons at the top nav.

cheers for the plugin:thumbsup:

This looks cool. I'll have a go tomorrow at work.
Was it easy to do? I just can't think in the way that people who program can. (my mind works in pictures)
The reason I ask is because a while ago I was looking for a plugin or program or any information to create accurate gears so that they actually work together in the correct way. In the end a friends dad (who is an engineering draughtsman) lent me some manuals with all the maths in, which I then made into a spreadsheet. Add a few measurements and the other angles are calculated for you. (see where I'm going?) I then had to create all of the lines in freehand. Not an easy task I can tell you.
Now, if someone could create a nice plugin.......
;)

thanx for your comments!

The issue with the filename should work now on mosts browsers. Unfortunately there is a bug (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q281119) in Internet Explorer 5.5 on Windows and in the Mac-Version where the problem remains. Windows Users should go for Service Pack 1, Mac Users perhaps switch to Safari :-)

Building the plugin was quite easy, except for the creation of the polygon and spline. This was a little hard to figure out...
Actually, I also thought about making a plugin for cogwheels that have the right shape (so that at no time they slide upon each other). I once studied automotive engenieering and there came across this topic. It' like to take a look at your spreadsheet, geoffr!

Thanks for the tip with the other forum, I'll post it there too!

Sure. PM me with youe email and I'll send it to you. I had a quick look and I'll be bu*gered if I can remember how to decipher all the data. I could find the photocopies of the instructions somewhere if you need them.
