Maya really seems to get upset when you introduce a TGA file with an Alpha layer. Then I use a 32 bit TGA file the real-time 3d just flips out. It doesn't know when to draw stuff... all sorts of GL popping seems to happen.
I have a nice NVidia Quadro card... and Max and Lightwave don't have the GL problems so I don't think it’s the hardware. Are there any options in Maya I don't know about for drawing Alpha information in a different way...
Is this problem fixed in Maya 5? Is it a bug or just me. :)
Everything does render correctly... but this is all realtime game work so renders aren't really a helpful work around. :)
