View Full Version : (1st model ever)WIP Female Head
Beerma 10-08-2003, 06:56 PM me and a buddy of mine are planning on making a mod for either unreal or halflife 2 and this is just the head of a common female model for the game. I was hoping you guys could tare it apart and tell me how to utilize the polys!

first off we need to know what type of style you are shooting for.
BTW: it seems that a lot more of the game is showing up now, so it wasnt just 1/3 of the code that was stolen, it was a lot more.

its going to be the seemingly usual post apoc. game with a twist that i will dare not tell. Chars will be relistic. I'll be giving more updates when i have time. (already late for 2pm class!!!)

Thats a good start for your first ever model.
Try adjusting these things:
>>The head needs more shape, try a better defined jawline. Give the back of the head a clear dent where the neck starts
>>The eyes are to big, make em a bit smaller. Now she looks like an alien.
>>The top of the head is too pointy, needs to be more round
>>Instead of the point of her nose ending in a point, try making it end in a flat surface. This will break up the pointy-ness, it's also better for the profile.
>>She needs a body, obviously :P

Did you start with a sphere? The pole on the nose is strange, usually a side effect of modelling from a sphere and it's pretty bad. Head looks good, except for what was already mentioned. And if you're trying to go for a more realistic approach, definatly the eyes look cartoony/manga-like. As for the poly count, well it depends on what kind of poly budget you have.

Hey!! i have fixed the eyes but not the nose...yet (its soo late) and i have also finished half of the body... tear it apart fo' me....i guess my budget is what ever unreal can handle....
sorry about the bad image quality i don't know how to optimise well...

i found a little more time in my week so i've been cleaning my model up and added a few details...the poly count is 3000 but i could easily bring it down because off all of the wasted polies on the back of her head....comments and crits would be greatly apreatiated, maybe some sugestions on her outfit...shes eventually going to look like an assasin with many swords and knives, I hope.....CHECK IT OUT

Hey Beerma,
Shes really coming along! I am loving the dress, are those straps that are crossing her legs?
What are your ideas for the hair?

THX for the reply BigRed, yes those are straps that join at rings along her legs, im thinking about putting a knife through the straps...and eventually im going to mount some kind of humidifyer thing for her to get clean air from, but i can't cover that beautiful face so im a little stuck for ideas, i thought about a helmet like buzz light years' but that would look rediculous...and the hair style is changing every couple mins, im not very good at stiking with ideas and following through so if i finish the model i will be surprised!!
