hi guys,
this might be a stupid question but I can`t find any satisfying answers in the documentation so maybe one of you guys can tell me how to solve this:
In 3dsmax I was able to select an object or components (like vertices) and drag one vertex around so that the whole component selection followed without changing the position relatively to each other. That way I was able to snap a bunch of vertices with the one selected point to something else (grid planes/objects/other vertices/etc). In Maya the only thing I can do is moving the transformation gizmo. If I use a snap mode and try to move my vertex selection it makes all my selected vertices collapse rather than moving them relative to the moved point. the other problem I have is that I can only drag the gizmo but not the vertices itself which makes it impossible to snap a vertex selection directly... hope that explanation made sense... =)
P.S.: snap-moving a selection of vertices without having them collapse is possible using the normal move mode... but that doesn`t allow for changing the drag point to a vertice (all the other modes allow for changing the pivot to a vertex point so that I can drag from there... but then I get the collapse problem.... *headache*)
