First off, i'm totally new to Motionbuilder, just trying out 30 day demo to see if it fits our needs.

That being said, we have a bunch of motion capture data in TRC format, that we need to get to BVH to load into max. I've followed this tutorial
http://www.geoffsamuel.com/Tutorials/c3d_to_biped.php
And his way worked great, and while doing that works, it would be slow to go through many many files that way.

So i noticed under Python tools there is a Batch tool, fantastic i thought! Except i can't get it to work.

Once i've followed that tutorial i listed, i go to the batch tool, select my character, input/output formats, and press start. I get a window saying "Character has no reference"
I searched around a bit and someone was saying i need to put a top node in the reference section for characterize, but I don't know how to to do that. So is there a tutorial about getting this going or guide somewhere?

Thanks

A reference is just a node/null/group object that is the parent of the skeleton above the root joint.

parent your skeleton to a new node and drop it in to the ref. slot, characterize again and you should be good to go.

Though, just FYI, you don't have to go to BVH to go in to CS any more, you can use the latest FBX plugin and directly import FBX on to a BIPED file. BVH is very limited going in to Biped and should be avoided when possible.
