Thanks guys for the positive response. If I didn't get anything I was going to give up and go live in Tibet or someplace!

Madsepp - I'll gladly send a wire but don't know if the 20k limit is for a thread or a single post. Unfortunately don't have a host of my own.

Xavier - I have spent too much time on this, wanting to get the feel of Frank Frazetta type illustration. It's over for now. Maybe you can have some suggestions.

Psan - Need to get someone to host for me then I can post some hi-res pics. Re texture only bumps, no colour.

Dragunzng - Thanks. I'm presently working on a hotlink solution to my post problems. After which I will have a bunch or renders and wires for you.

But i would love to see some final image tho. I mean, this looks just a model and texture.

Yeah, he looks realy cool but not like an Neandertaler. But I think you didn't want to make him very realistic ;).

excellent work,

Lets see a wire frame of that, it loosk great. I would love to see jsut a render of the model just with some basic GI lighjting, just so we can see all of the model. I love the renders you did, it has very dynamic lighting and a cool pose. But it does nto show of your model that much. anyways talk to you later. peace

Nice work, are you modelling the vains or using displacement mapping?

MikeT
10-11-2003, 06:12 AM
Dragunzng - All the veins are geometry. No displacement maps used. Tried to get a wire for you but nothing less than 60k, sorry. Anyway I've burdened the CGTalk servers enough for now!

Thou shall have wires tomorrow.

The veins in your leg model shouted out to me right away, I know what it's supposed to look like below: But the networks you have looks a bit like a seam for pants, sorry to say, I dunno maybe they're too pronounced?

Nice model but do kill some of those black shadows in your render, and what's with the green frog? :surprised

Hmmm, the modelling looks nice but unfortunately the bad lighting really ruins it for me. Lighting is so important for successfully showcasing a model - even though I am guessing you wanted a dramatic look for this I don't think you've gone about it the right way. The black areas are simply too deep. I think that you should readdress the lighting in order to improve this. The lighting in the shots where you showed the parts of the body is much better, in my opinion :)

Incidently, any particular reason why it's black and white? Is it not textured? Would be cool to see him textured.

Also, post some wireframes already!

Lildragon - you're right about the saphenous vein. I just didn't expect it to be so visible. Kermit is an old friend!

Slaughters - Yep that's him who got me going.

Leigh - I wanted the viewer to be immediately struck by power and menace and that's the reason for the lighting. BW just like Frazetta's sketches

CROMS FEET! I was just about to suggest you do some GI but I see you've beaten mem to the punch in that last post. Great work, the lightings much improved now, but still makes him look menacing. Fine work and hope to see more of your stuff on here.

i LOVE what you have done with his quads and hamstrings ...... in some models legs always seem to be lacking .. but here they are perrrrrfect .... haha plus all the other kudos people have given ... i agree with .. good work ! :wavey:

MikeT

McSpirit - Sorry for the late reply. I will be woking on a new and improved version so you will be among the first to know!

mmProj - He had hair once upon a time but it seemed to get in the way. Maybe when I get it right.

katon - I had originally planned to have him walking through a marsh kinda place complete with mangroves and frogs jumping hither and yon. But my graphics card had a heart attack. So I just kept the frog and junked everything else, until I can upgrade.

gmask - You're only the second guy to recognize the great FFrazetta influence. Guess I must be doing something right!

All of you have saved me an incredibly long walk to Tibet. Now onwards and upwards. Bye.

Yeah.. after looking at your model I had to go over to the Frazetta site for awhile.. I can't wait to see what you do with the textures.

Very good work indeed. Nice to share the wires with us.
You might want to refine hands and feet a bit. I'm looking forward to seeing him textured.
There really is a FFrazetta feel to it. Keep posting. I'm surprised it's not plugged....should really be.
Anyway, good luck for the coming parts, let us know if he's found a pretty girl near the pond ;-))
