I am still trying to get walk cycles down. This is a very exaggerated walk. I think I just learn better that way. Anyways...please tell me what you all think of it. Just to clarify... I did not build the model. I just did the animation. :D

Maya 5.0 used

The animation looks quite good. I have 2 comments about how it looks on the front view:
_the knees move far too much outwards. I know it's not intended to be realistic but looks like he has some sort of handicap :)
_pelvis has a good rotation but it moves oddly in the horizontal directions... like he was dodging some obstacle in the pelvis area (oww better protect those precious jewels!) hehe

bye!

I agree with what Da Krunch said about the animation in the front view. As for the side view, it seems that the knees come up too high, his upper body reads to me as more sluggish or a lazy type of walk, but with the knees coming up so high his lower body appears to be doing more work.
Maybe try to make the feet not come up so high and they would look more like they drag. Also check you keys on the feet at the beginning and the end of your cycle because they look like they are slowing down mechanically somewhere there (beginning or end of cycle, maybe a double key?) also the hands are great, yet you could enhance it even more if you add extra rotation in the z and x and move the fingers a little too, like you did the stap on his helmet. great detail, nice model

keep up the good work, cuz its really nice and has a nice flow to it!!

I think it looks good, but it's wicked slow? Is that on purpose? Otherwise some downscaling of those keyframes seems to be in order.

Update....

Thanks for the crits everyone!!! I tried to keep all of your comments in mind as I tweaked the animation some. I tried to fix the knees...I toned down the hip movement....I added movement to the fingers....I decreased the amount he bends down....and I increased the speed he was moving. Tell me what you all think of it now. Is it better or worse? What else should I do?

Looks great Aluuk!
The only fix I can see is in the side view, the leg closest to the camera, as it goes back, just as it rotates to the ball of the foot, there is a shake in the leg...look at your keys there and check you curves. Otherwise nice work!

Aluuk,

Great work! The few things I can say are probably character issues -- meaning depending on who your character is, these comments could be irrelevant.

Anyway,
- The neck seems to be a bit stiff.
- He seems to lift is feet off the floor like he's stepping over something, people seem to almost drag their feet only lifting them enough not to drag

That's all, good job.

nice walk cycle but I would like to see some jiggle in his belly as he walks, it's too stiff as it is now.
