Hi
For a website, I'll build the interface in flash and include html pages in flash dynamics textfields by variable declaration. In these html pages, their are images. Is flash6 able to display image from html page included in textfield? (I thought it because f6 make possible to include images external from a swf)

1001 thanks !

I don't think you can include them within the textfield in Flash 6. However if you were to get Flash 7 (not sure if you need the Pro editon?) you would be able to do this within the text field as you described.

Ok, thx I go read the new features. But I must get flashMX 2004 it will oblige the user to get flash palyer 7 too. Is that true?

Umm.. I think so. I would be surprised if it were backward compatible.

As far as I know, the most you can do with Flash MX 2004 is to use CSS text formatting of HTML within a textfield. You cannot include images. To do that, you'd have to import the jpeg image at runtime, and format the page using a combination of flash MCs and HTML text formatting.

I'm pretty sure you can. I read a review that told said you could do it.

I hope I am wrong - it would be seriously cool if you can!!

I'm 99% sure of it. It is definitely a cool feature. I just wish I could remember the link to the review I was reading... oh well.

The problem :
I want dislay in a textfield the content of an html page. The content is made of texts and images. The doc doesn't say the image html tag is supported.

What we have :
Knowing that flashMX can include images into published *.swf (eg to build a gallery), I though this new feature make also possible to include images declared in HTML (and it would be better into a textfield). By clicking on "html" in textfield parameters, you allow flash to display this tags : <A>, <B>, <FONT COLOR>, <FONT FACE>, <FONT SIZE>, <I>, <P> et <U> (says the documentation).
Note : I know include a external file (as .*txt or .*htm) and display it in a dynamic textfield by a simple variable declaration and the function loadVariable.

A way to work :
So if flash can't do it... Why dont code something make possible to import images declared in HTML (by this tag <img src="#">)? The adress of the picture is also given. I'm not a coder, but I know actionscript is now able to generate textfield on execution (with the function createTextField). So reading the html source, the code could be able to alternate between textfields and images diplaying... Do you understand? On reading the html source : on finding a text generate a textfield and on finding an image display the image.

Flash MX 2004 : a solution?
As we can read FlashMX 2004 do not support this task for the moment. And note that wait the time needed to make sur that enough computer have flash player 7 will be too long. I dont understand why Macromedia's devloppers havn't coded something to make this task easier yet.

Reply me about it friends :)
And I hope you'll remember the method given in your review :)

I wish I could. I spent a good half an hour trying to find it again, I'm dead certain they said it could be done quite easily.

Flashloaded.com has a great little component called "Ultimate Scroller" that does exactly what you need.
You save the images that you want to include as movie clips, then incorporate the dynamic text, and movie clips within the scroller.
It'll cost you a few dollars, but well worth it.
Hope this helps!

Yes you can.

I happened upon this tutorial (http://www.actionscript.org/tutorials/intermediate/load_images_via_XML/index.shtml) purely by chance.

Php and Flash is your answer!

You should really look into PHP and Flash take a look at a site we developed all the images and text are loaded from a php backend. very nice and easy to change.

www.iguideoflansing.com

Let me know if you need resources for that. PhP is free and runs on most servers. with a little scripting knowledge you can do alot of things. Php and Flash is the future of the web.
