I know that there is a way to do this, but I can't find it. I want to be able to change all the materials (save one) in my scene to the same one, render, and then change them back. What are my options for this? All help is, as always, greatly appreciated.

I think there is a plugin called tag manager than can do this. Forget where its URL.

Also paul everitt had that set of plugsin 10comm tools or whatever. It had one plug that would let you instantly render everything 50 grey and then with a keystroke revert to original textures.

Select all the materials in the material manager
function - select texture tags/objects
replace them in the attributes manager with a basic new material or delete the tags in the object manager
ctrl z to undo

Thanks thirdeye, that's a perfect no frills solution for what I'm trying to do. Hadn't realized that I could do that from the Mat Manager. I appreciate it.
