Hi all,

Maya 5.0 had been released quite sometime, for the user that use Maya 4.5 & upgrade to Maya 5.0, just want to know, is Maya
4.5 better than Maya 5.0 in term of stability etc.

Although, every new version of software will add in new feature & function to "improve" the workflow as the company stated, like Windows 2000 & Windows Xp.

From alot of user, they still prefer Windows 2000 than Xp, I want to know is Maya 5.0 had deliver their standard as I'm intend to switch to Maya 5.0 from 4.5.

of course it is.. p.s. do not download v5.0.1
it crashed about 12 times since last download, plus it screws up the doc servers, problem with scripts installed etc... maya 4.0 was the best version of the software... best version ever.
stick with 4.5... BTW if you are running windows (XP or what ever switch to linux  , i'm about to myself. )

So far I find Maya 5.0.1 to be very stable. I did have a problem with the help server at first, but now all if fine.

Clearly Maya 5.0+ is better than any previous version. There are better, more useful tools, far better integration of renderers, and workflow improvements, etc.

hmms..Let me give my idea. It is right that Maya 4.0 was good.
But Maya 3.0 was the best version of Maya. Maya 4.5 was buggy, but not as much as Maya 5.0. Maya 5.0 was a crap ! But with this 5.01 update, i saw that they solve nearly every problem. And it doesn't crash the doc server or anything. I'm a licensed user so i didn't see any problems. If you use crack shit, maybe you may have seen problems....
If you use Licensed user and updated your 5.0 to 5.01, and 've seen some problems, you may contact your dealer for solutions. Or simply just e-mail your problems to Alias ! I believe they'll help.

Never worked with 4.0 and before but my experience is that 5.0 runs more stable on XP than 4.5... But of course your hardware has to be able to deal with the extra features and stuff. It is possible that you run 4.5 almost flawless and that 5.0 crashes some times.

however, my Athlon 1400 with 256 MB and Riva TNT2  never had problems:cool:
