"Once a thriving city"

You have 60 mn for your sketch.

IF you go beyond the assigned time limit , you have to post WHATEVER you have done after the time has expired, along with the FINAL drawing.
You may post a drawing at ANY TIME, but if you wish to be eligible for the Sketch of the Week, it must be finished at least a week after the topic has been posted.
You may also re-post a copy of your finished drawing a this forum: Member SKETCH Collection (http://forums.cgsociety.org/forumdisplay.php?f=272)
Post only your FINAL piece on this thread, based on the topic on the thread.
Only final pieces can be posted on the thread. They must have been done AFTER the topic has been announced.
RESOLUTION : The image can have any aspect ratio up to 1024 x 1024. NOTE: The forum WILL RESIZE your image. Note: the forum will automatically resize the drawing, but you may post a direct link to a high resolution version of your image.
All Drawings can be done on any medium.
If you wish, you can add a brief text description about your piece.
Only original compositions. No "tributes" or plagiarizing, unless is it an integral part of the challenge.
The artist also has to post total length of time it took and program used.
The topics will be picked at random from the list on the TOPICS thread >>LINK<< (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php/?t=145003)

I thought I'd join in with the daily sketch forum so this should be fun and I kinda need the practice as my speed is pretty terrible! With this image, I'm pleased with some of it but I wouldn't call it 100% complete :). Anyway, here's my attempt at 'Once a Thriving City'.

The rules say:
"IF you go beyond the assigned time limit , you have to post WHATEVER you have done after the time has expired, along with the FINAL drawing."

Someone correct me if I'm wrong; I'm assuming you will be judged at what you have when time expires. So you will want to keep the time limit in mind when planning a sketch. The shorter time limits are good exercise for quickly conveying an idea, as opposed to a fully rendered piece.

wow nice work dew.
I had a bad day today, I spent around 60 minutes doing this (I redone it 3x) but it still looks so childish...

Stage at about 50-60 min (http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii127/okzorg/OnceCityStage.jpg?t=1287779944) - some details and changes made in the extra time but it was mostly color struggle. Still not very happy but can't afford more time.

Hi everyone!

Ekaro - welcome to the forum:-)!!
daw - I had similar idea, but You have done it waay better. I love the depth of your sketch.
Asembler - nice idea - but the perspective seems to be a bit flattened.
RedStrings - great composition, will you finish this?
MrScabs - nicely done, as usuall, but the birds seems to me to be in front of the painting...
Okzorg - Excellent! you are keeping very high standard, which really motivates me to draw even more

Thise time I post two sketches. Both vere done on time in Pohotoshop.

The first was supposed to be an abandoned city

but I wasnt happy with this. I got an idea of underwater scenery so I gave it another try, but again I could not reach the desired result. Maybe next time...
