i totally concur, in fact i was thinking of entering the 2D to try and bring up the views a bit ( that was rather arrogant wasnt it? )
but with finals this week and me working over time @ CAM (contemporary art museum) im not sure when ill be able to post or even IF....
anyways youre right , and thanks for the pep thread!
BTW. i checked out 'brian froud', and thanks man thats a great compliment to even be associated with someone of his calibur.
who knows that may be part of the inspiration behind my latest 2d...thanks

Actually, I've been keeping one eyeball on the 2D challenge :) It's just that there is a lot more to keep up with here, so I'm generally kind of busy
It's just that there isn't much participation this month (or last month for that matter)...

It's just that there isn't much participation this monthOh ouch! :hmm: :thumbsdow
I'm sure that I'm reading that incorrectly.

Show some lovin' for us 2D artists. This is only the second challenge, the more interest you show the bigger it will be next time around.

Not that it matters, but I have been avidly following the 2D, it's really amazing stuff..but this month especially, it's completely insane to keep up with all the threads..

Also I mentioned this in a post over there, but not all the (mortal) 3D people can draw as well, so it's hard to post crits, or don't feel justified..but then saying what you like or dislike visually is the same on both sides, even if you couldn't create it, I suppose. The viewing and participation split DOES seem to be about the same as the ratio between the 2D and 3D forums..if that's a continuous problem, I guess that ****s, but I do enjoy reading both, so hope you don't take your toys and go home.

Anyway, you guys are doing great things over there, and everyone should go check it out..

(edit) haha, forgot about the filter there. somehow that makes it even dirtier. :D

Hey guys - I didn't mean offense :) What I meant was that it's sad that there are only about 15 entries in the 2D section

elfufu

i dont think any of us take this offensively, :) we have fun just the same. we 2D boys love 3D as well, all we want is just more attention !!!! :scream:

now regarding only 15 entries....hmmmm..thats is true but out of the 15 the majority are preety darn good. now the 3D section has 40000 but theres 10 or 20 good ones ...do i see a balance? :p

I think that it is generally known that there is not much attention for the 2D cg on the forum... But the wind of change is letting it's breeze reach everyone that has neglected the way of the 2D cg art.

It takes much more effort to convince a believer to see it the otherway than a non believer to see...

Spoken!

up, up, up, up....

Anyway it looks like this thread has worked two more people have entered the 2d challenge!

It just goes to show what a great idea it was to split the challenge up into 2 forums.

I guess you can only blame all those people going "ooh.. let's open another forum just for [texturing/photoshop/2d/2d-wips/2d-gallery/lowpoly art/high-poly art/volumetric effects/collaborative projects/whatever], that'd be sooo great" and the mods for listening.

ps. I know most of you wont agree. But the dwindling traffic speaks for itself. All I can do is sit back and see the forum shoot itself in the foot (again and again and again).

Oh, no ... you are mistaken. Look several new entries have joined the 2D challenge. This is only going to get better, I'm afraid.

Kirt: You totally missed my point.
I've nothing against 2D. I was just saying the trend of making SEPARATE forums is bad. Nothing wrong with keeping the 3d and 2d forums together.

Had they been together you wouldn't need to post this thread just to get people to visit.
