CGTalk - twain scanner doesn't show in CS5 but does in CS4

View Full Version : twain scanner doesn't show in CS5 but does in CS4 - help!

I have a Canoscan 8600f that I have used in PS CS3 and CS4. When I installed CS5 the scanner does not appear under File>Import. I did not uninstall CS4 and it shows up there under File>Import.

Any suggestions as to why it does not appear in PS CS5?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Not a direct answer, but I use VueScan (http://www.hamrick.com/) since it has great quality and control and works with every scanner I tried.

They removed twain support from the default install of CS5. Grab it here:

I just use the Epson software with my 4990.

Thank you Dave...I hope I install them properly. Funny that they would not include it in the main install for CS5. Thank you for the information.

Also, I looked at Vue Scan and decided that if I could get the scanner to show up in PS then I would not use the external program...but thank you for telling me about it.
