Hi all,
Does anyone know of any software that will take .mov or .avi files and output them to single images so I can import them as the background movie for Live matchmovies?

Or-

How do I make maya use movies as the background instead of importing a series of images?

after effects, combustion, premiere can do it. Its always best to use sequenced images, using mov, or avi is not a good idea.

Does anyone know of any simpler or cheaper software that will output a sequence of images from mov avi or mpg files?

Quicktime pro will output to an image sequence, quality obviously depends on your movie file.

I went ahead and got premier and it works pretty well, it has that output to sequence I was looking for but Im using a digital camera which takes short 15 second .mov files, I dont think the camera is running at 24 fps because when I import the sequence it runs too fast when Maya is set to 24 fps, I was thinking about getting a digital camcorder and trying it. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good digital camcorder to buy for making matchmovies with Maya? ..actually not just for matchmovies but just a good all around digital camcorder that works well together with 3d apps?
