View Full Version : wip: messed up elmo doll
money_bags42 10-05-2003, 01:16 AM i'll probably get a bunch of mixed crits about this, but here goes anyway :)

anyways just to sum it up, this is for a short lowpoly animation i'm thinking, yes just thinking, of doing which will in the end resemble something along the lines of tim burtons nightmare before christmas style
im going for an inbetween look, realistic mixed in with toonshaded, err, something like that ,something that looks like its been hand drawn, but 3d with a lot of grunge
im a maya person moving onto max since thats what my work place uses now, so this is my first attempt at max in making anything organic
textures are still WIP but its a viewport shot with 100% self illuminated, will post wires / flats but i left them at work :p
anyways any crits would be nice!

went ahead and modeled a shelf and did some rough textures for the floor, i got a bit stuck so usually when that happens i mess around with the scene in photoshop so here's what i came up with

yes all the dolls are holding hands lol i just did a really quick render and photoshopped in some lights and shadows, anyways i hope it gives a good idea of the type of look and style im going for

did a bit more concept work and added a few more props to the scene

the little guy is sort of an evil doll, one that gets tossed aside, so once this new "tickle my nemo" doll comes in , he gets jealous and gets ready to tear them to shreds
heres a quick progress shot

So, when you first posted, I checked out your webpage - and saw this little guy, done already in the top right corner, and figured - I bet he's related to this whole Elmo deal.
Now I see you posting a "here he is as he stands now", and he's hardly begun.
What's the deal, man?

I like the doll your making now, but elmo is elmo.. make him more unique.

Dargon: yes he's on my webpage, that is a render from Maya and stands at about 3700 triangles, the latest pic i just showed is a lower poly version im working on done in max just a bit under 1000 triangles at the moment
oxynary: yeah i thought of that too, what would u suggest i do to make him a bit more 'unique'?
thnx for the feedback so far guys ! ;)
