why is a clean install required for 8.2 update

It's a major upgrade you have to pay for and so you will need the c4d r8.0 disks plus update to 8.2 disk included.

If you have 8.1 installed then you do not have to un-install it to upgrade to 8.2. It's very simple.

well It wants a new install for me with 8.1 running.

I probibly didn't install in the correct order or something.

However running 8.2 from 7 is like OS 8 to OX X on the mac. Nothing aginst 7, but the program is MUCH different under the surface. They have almost nothing alike. That would be the reason alot of plugs had to be rewritten for 8.
