View Full Version : triangle count in maya
gromdt 10-04-2003, 08:35 PM I thought I saw someone post a screen of their mesh the other day, and I saw a triangle count in their HUD. As of right now I only know how to get the triangle count via render log in the Output Window. I know you can get the Face count (which if you were triangulated would really mean triangle count) in HUD, but do any of you know if this is possible in Maya 5's prefs?

You'll have to get the "bonusTools5" plug-in from www.alias.com. Formerly known as "bonusGame45".
In HUD options you'll get the option to show triangle count too.
Plus you get a whole bunch of valuable tools along with it!:)

Er.. For some strange reason I can't find the "triangle count" when I try it myself... It was quite some time ago when I last needed hunting down tris'. I used "BonusGame4" back then. Hope you find it anyhow.

I downloaded the bonusGameTools5.0 from Alias's downloads page, and its very simple to find. Simply look for 'Triangle Count HUD' on the Bonus Tools Menu that is added to your menubar.

Odd... When I first loaded the Plug I couldn't find the Triangle HUD, but when I re-installed it just sat there, in the middle of everything! Plus a whole bunch of other things that wasn't there the first time... Maybe I didn't activate enough nodes in the Plug-in manager.

Um, relized the bonusTools menu changes depending on what menu you have active (Animation, modeling, dynamics etc). You have to have modeling to get the Tri HUD working! Never seen that before ;)
