We have just finished two stereoscopic commercials for Mnet (local televison channel) as a collaborative effort between BlackGinger and Shy the Sun for Ogilvy JHB.

The miniature sets, designed and built by Steven Saunders were shot over a three week period using a motion control rig to capture each “eye” for the stereoscopic version and numerous passes for the composite.

The characters, designed by Shy the Sun, and all the other elements they interact with were created by BlackGinger using Softimage and Houdini and rendered with Mantra. 3D scans were also created for accurate layout objects of the set.

All the compositing was then done using Nuke and Ocula for the stereo tools. Four versions of the commercials, stereoscopic cinema, cinema, HD and PAL were created for different lighting, cropping and frame rates.

Wow, nice work. I couldn't figure out which bits were part of the set from the video, thanks for the photos.

Thanks. Shy the Sun are putting a making-of together for the commercial and I will upload that as soon as we have it.
